January 31, 201016 yr boss battle theme for a game... Boss Battle also, here is my youtube channel if u guys want to check out my other stuff. i made a fan made soundtrack for FFXIII... http://www.youtube.com/user/max05XIII
January 31, 201016 yr Very Final Fantasy-escque. Nice work. Piece feels too static from 0:20-0:40 with the chords in the right hand and in the bass at the exact same time. The second bar is the one I refer to. The piece loses its forward momentum that you've so masterfully built-up. It's not terrible. I just played it back and it kind of faded into the background without disturbing me or anything. But, I think you can still do better. This is a boss battle after all. There needs to be a driving rhythm if the character's life is at stake. Some really pretty lines around 1:45. Can you loop this piece from the beginning till around 1:50 something? Just in case the boss battle lasts longer than 2 minutes :P Solid job, Max. -John
February 1, 201016 yr I agree with Doovongeman, it really reminds me of "Tatakau Monotachi" from FF7. There wasn't anything that particularly bothered me. Very nice job!
February 3, 201016 yr I don't know much about the FF soundtrack. However, from what I've listened to, this does remind me of FF. I really like this a lot. Good job.
February 3, 201016 yr I like this piece. It is a little Final Fantasy-ish in that it's a boss battle using the piano as your only instrumentation. It might be cool to add some ambient sounds around the solo piano, like Woodwinds and Strings to highlight sections of the music. This would distinguish you from Nobuo Uematsu more, I think. Anyway, great work! Glad you shared it, and be sure to poke around the forums and comment on other members' music, too. You'll get more people listening to your music that way, FYI :) Welcome to the forums, - AA :)

I just felt the piece had built up a decent amount and needed a "calm" section to get into a groove.

Very nice job! lol i didnt know the japanese version of that song, so i had to look it up  this piece was inspired a lot from that...

February 6, 201016 yr Hi Max! I enjoyed this, although I have to say I didn't feel that it was particularly tense in a battle-like way...more like a sort of dramatic conversation. Still, good capturing of the general JRPG musical vibe. As others have mentioned, it's EXTREMELY similar to that FF7 track. Anyhow, nothing particularly wrong with it beyond my feeling that it doesn't quite capture the "battle" feel very well. Nice to listen to. If you want it to be a little more intense, then definitely orchestrate it — it'll be a good learning experience for you. Thanks for sharing! :)
February 7, 201016 yr Max This does have some very nice moments in it but I also fail to see a battle scene. But one of the best things about music is that we each interpret it in our own way. Nice work Ron
May 20, 201015 yr This is interesting work, Max: --I like the flow and feel of the piece: it's somewhat lyrical, as it doesn't have a readily discernible underlying musical motif, but rather explores different tonalities through the piece. --That is a double-edged sword, however: on the one hand, it carries good atmosphere, and a vague sense of tension (but yes, I definitely do not see a boss battle with this: the rhythm is too tame and sensitive, rather then stirring and exciting :P), but on the other hand, once the piece was over, nothing stuck with me, and I completely forgot what I'd listened to. Focus on creating strong melodies to go with all your harmony tinkering, so that there's a level of memorableness in your music ;) Thanks for sharing with us: this was fun
