Unfortunately, he said he wants to meet composers, and I'm not sure you've written any real music. :P

*runs away*

:O wow that was mean! :P

If you can't think of anything to create, go for a walk. Deep, huh?

Not really.

Hi there, I'm Simone De Lorenzis, from Italy. I'm a classical pianist and not-so-young composer.

I'm currently working on a documentary video.

Since my harware is obsolete, i'm trying to understand what i can do with my basic configuration, and how to set up another one.

I owe both ewql NI and PLAY version and - having not 3000$ to spend - REAPER+finale (basic) , but come back to NI since PLAY stick more than ever with upgrades. Hope that with a 64bit Vista (or windows 7) can resolve that

G'day all,

Name's Gav and I'm 18 from Melbourne in Australia. I've just started a music composition degree and am slowly getting into the art of composition. I play piano and guitar.

Nice to meet you all :)

Hey guys, I'm from Sydney Australia. I'm in my last year of high school and I'm planning to study music at a tertiary level (just not sure which course though).

I play piano and sing and I like to experiment with various forms and genres of music. I've also developed an interest in composition which I'm still quite a 'n00b' at it.

Hopefully, you guys will overlook that fact:musicwhistle:

HI. I am new here. I'm from Hungary and I want to share

some of my songs with you. I hope you like it. I work with Guitar Pro 5.

Have a nice day!

...

If you want feedback on your work, it is best to make individual threads for each piece. I would suggest maybe posting one per day or every other day as to not saturate the forum... you will get more reviews that way ;)

Hi this is shedo new member of the forum , just saying hello to all forums friends.

Hi, my name is Jasmine, I'm 17.

I guess I'll give a brief synopsis of me..

Honestly, as far as making my own music, I've probably been doing it for about a year or two, that is if you don't count cheap music making games for ps2. If you do, then probably 3 or 4. Composing, ha, even less than that, but I do realize that it is something I love to do. I really knew that I had a strong passion for it when I got 8 hours of sleep, in three days total, in a composition cram session and loved every moment of it :D. I started off playing trumpet in 6th grade. It didn't dwell on me, apparently, because I switched to tuba my 7th grade year (very lady like I know) and have been playing it ever since, and now, as I finish my 12th grade year, will be continuing on my tubatastic journey (wow that was lame) as I enter college as a Music Education/Composition major. Actually, I didn't play tuba my 9th grade year because I was forced to play baritone, but it was actually very cool. I'm teaching myself guitar, been playing off and on for about two years, still teaching myself "composition etiquette", and music theory *groan*. Nah, I actually like it :), as well as kind of sort of teaching myself piano (it's complicated).

But I DO expect, and hope, to get school'ed, but more so, gain knowledge on composing from an array of people who love music just as much as I do.

Or more, but I doubt that.

W00T! Excitement.

Hi I'm Dalesh, South African by birth, Indian by nationality and proud by nature... lol

I play piano (at least I try too!) I have tried my hand at composing and recently I have managed to get one of my songs sung by a local band that is really taking the market by storm. I seem to be ever climbing on this road to becoming a fully fledged composer.

Hello d.kowlesar and welcome to :yc:!

I hope the people at this forum can help you along that road.

Cheers,

Edgar

Hi. I'm Glenn Simonelli. I minored in music composition at college but got sidetracked by the time and financial pressures of supporting a family, so I never seriously pursued composing. Now that my children are grown and I have some free time I have finally started composing seriously. So I guess I'm not really a young composer, just a new and unknown one. Am I still welcome here, even if I do listen to CDs instead of MP3s and refer to all commercially sold pre-recorded music as "albums"? (As I write this I can see my Sgt. Pepper picture disc on the shelf in front of me.)

Welcome to the forums. Yes, the "young" in Young Composers is a bit misleading.

If you want feedback on your work, it is best to make individual threads for each piece. I would suggest maybe posting one per day or every other day as to not saturate the forum... you will get more reviews that way

No, best way to get reviews is to review other people's works; a simple matter of you scratch my back and I scratch yours.

I know that. I didn't say that was the "best" way to get reviews... I said he would get "more" reviews (or have the potential to) if he posted periodically rather than throw everything he has out at once, all that does is make people not know where to begin.

I'm Martin, a freshman at duke. i love composing and want to make a career of it. i've been frustrated by the opportunities available to me and i'm deciding to just jump in head first: i'm trying to make this an outlet for what i feel personally moved to write, not the dry pieces like 4 part chorales and everything that the current music curriculum at my school requires. i have some very unique ideas about music, and feel like things need to be moved forward a bit. Thanks!

martin

Hallo there. :)

Hello everyone,

I am a musicologist from Cyprus

Hi there.

Wow, you people are really coming by the dozens aren't you?

yup, and they tend to leave by the dozens....

anyway...

welcome to :yc:

stick around, please.

lol.

And yes, don't leave! :P

Hello!

My name is Sergio Pe

I'm a relative late comer to the composing scene at 27, but hopefully I can learn something.

Me too :D 25, started when I was almost 23.

I have played piano since 8, but upon entering college I stopped completely and have gone near 10 years without practicing. A pity and probably one of my biggest regrets

I did the same thing actually and I'm mad at myself :P But, at least you are back to it!

Welcome to YC! :yc:
