Hello.

The website told me to introduce myself here. I'm new. I'm a composer. I tend to avoid 12tET.

That's about it.

EDIT:

After perusing the forum I noticed that there wasn't much on microtonal music but that there are individuals out there interested in it. So, should anyone have questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

Welcome! I like welcoming new members! :D:P

Have fun anyone since I last posted, here on :yc:

Looking forward to meeting you! haha!

Hi all,

I'm Deri (read: dairy), age 21, a computer science major with a strong interest in composition since elementary school. I'm from Indonesia, now studying in the US. I love film music, game music, elevator music, (East Asian) ethnic music, and have been trying to compose game music and film music since long time ago. I play piano but I'm not as good in it as sequencing MIDI with software. I use SONAR 8 with a simple MIDI controller.

I also have learned a little how to mix and master audio/music. I also love to rearrange raw, pure musical ideas into a polished orchestral piece. I love giving harmony and orchestrating existing melody lines and I consider myself pretty good at this.

The reason I join this forum is that I would really really love to get feedback for my works, which I will post soon to the appropriate threads in this forum. Hopefully I can also contribute in giving feedback to others' works with my limited knowledge.

I particularly want to learn about what it takes to be a professional film / game music composer, in terms of tools to use, composition best practices, compositional goals and principles, and hopefully some music industry context.

Nice to meet you all!

That's a boring job, but I'll take it! I need a job realllyyyyyyy bad!

Welcome to derianto!

Hi Sarah, I'm Omar! Welcome to YC! I was co-1st chair clarinet in my band...last year. I am out of High School! :w00t:

Anyways, Julliard...wow. Good luck!

There are many alfred published books out there, and music theory online classes. Music Theory On Line

Good luck!

Hi, I am new to composing music. I played the saxophone when I was younger, but my interest in music waned and I stopped. Recently my interest in music has been reignited, specifically composing, when I found about computer composition programs such as FL Studio.

I'm calling!

Omar's ideal job: Walmart greeter.

Nico, you rock

Hi, I'm Tom. I'm 16, I'm from Australia, I play the trumpet, but i'm more interested in composition.

Hoping to learn new techniques, get some feedback on some of my stuff, etc.

Being a Walmart greeter will be a nice alternative in case that composition career doesn't work out.

Hey, Im Zach, 16, US. I have been playing anything percussion related for quite some time now, and I started playing piano when i was 4. I'm a Junior in HS and have been composing for a while now, just hoping to get some feedback and maybe some ideas for composition here. soooo yeah... haha

Hi, I am Amir Bitran. I am 15 years old, and I am classically trained in piano. A few years ago, I started writing my own songs, and now I would like to share them here. If I had to choose one overall genre to describe my works, I would say they are rock, though they take influences from a variety of styles, such as the classical music I was trained with, blues, jazz, Israeli music, and latin.

After hearing a song I want to find out its usages chords. Such as, C major scales song

Sounds interesting Abitran!

Hi! I'm Doug from California, and I'm taking a music theory class, and I enjoy composing just for the fun of it. And some of my assignments require me to compose simple pieces. So I'm hear for valuable critiques on my work before I turn it in to my instructor.

Hello, everybody. My name is Hadas Levy (Myrtle Esmeralde is some sort of a code name for it...). I'm 14 years old, and started seriously composing about a year and a half ago. I do not have any pieces from an earlier time, although I know I've composed a little bit.

I learned composition for 2 years when I was about 8-9, with a teacher that practicly composed everything for me and left no room for creativity from my side... So naturaly - I didn't learn anything, and quit. I never really learned composition, eventually.

I've been playing the piano & learning music theory for about 8.5 years already, and I've taught myself to play on acoustic guitar. I also play recorders of any size and sort.

I mostly compose classical pieces and songs, almost all of which are dark-themed and melancholic. Joy doesn't work for me, apparantely! :whistling:

Hello, everybody! :whistling:
