Hey everyone! I'm still in high school and I love to compose. I composed many musics and songs but I don't know what to do with them so i decided to share it with the world. I want to know what other people think of them, i want critism so i know how to improve. So everyone, I hope you could enjoy my music and help me improve. :D

Hello to everybody. I'm a spanish begginer composer. I'm interested in chamber orchestra compositions, quarteto strings, etc. I'm using Finale 2010. What do you think about this programe? I've tried Sibelius, but I prefer Finale.

Is there any spanish composer near here?:whistling:

Bienvenidos a YC :D

Ojal

You know what... I think we can say that welcome messages in other languages can be allowed in this thread ..... but only once, as a welcome to new members ....

mejor me voy .... tin tilin tilin ....

Hi I'm Seth, 17, from NH USA.

I play the piano (14 years) and the organ( 1.5 years). I took violin four for years but realized that I love chords so much that melody alone does not satisfy my musical cravings.:D

I plan to go to college on a composition/ music ed or composition/vocal performance major. oh yeah, I sing too.;)

I write primarily for choirs and chamber ensembles, but do have plans for larger works.

My favorite composers are Vaughan-Williams, Rachmaninoff, Granados, R. Strauss, and Schoenberg.

Bach's good too. MOzart's decent. Haydn....bleh.

Hi, I'm Renata, from Mexico. I play jazz guitar and compose original music for a jazz quartet I have. I really love the contemporary idiom and try to infuse some of it into my stuff. I love Xenakis and Varese. I am currently figuring out how to use Sibelius, I think I've done pretty well but still get stuck sometimes.

Hello everyone. I'm Bora, from Turkey. I'm 20 years old and have been studying composition since I'm 14 in a way of self-learning. However, I recently started to study professionally with a composer, which is quite incentive for me.

I'm studying physics at university. Not hard to see the harmonious relation between music and physics (and maths likewise), let alone their individual coherence.

Though, I'm not after an illusion of most rational music, nor a world domination, but after a 'cyclic inspiration source' to make us all seek for 'how's and 'why's with an inner smile in ourselves , maybe a visible smile on our face but not of any discomposure, hectic nor dismay which leads us to a total silence.

But, for now and most pragmatic reasons, I prefer to stay put and delve into music.

Cheers!

Hi, I'm Chris from Cebu, Philippines. I started taking up piano when i was 9 ( i think) and only recently have i been seriously at it. I'm in a contemporary blues band and play the keyboards. I love playing in a band, but i also love composing songs both for films and for fun. I like doing film projects and composing using Logic Pro. I do "rackets" or free lance stuff with some amateur film makers.

I'm glad i can find ppl here to record a live playing of some pieces i might want live versions of (MIDI can sounds so fake :( ).

Hoping to go to Berklee for further studies after i graduate in BS - Management here in the Philippines.

Glad to be a part of this thing :).

God bless.

Hi, I'm Renata, from Mexico.

Hello Renata, I'm from Mexico too, (I think I was the first Mexican in arriving here) You're very welcome, me and another member called josepablofm are the only ones around, now we seem to be 3, and a woman !!! (there are very few ones here :) )

Have a great time here, and if somebody post you something dislikeful, ignore it, but don't leave, stay....

Hello all,

My name is Peter Sammylin and i am from Antwerp which is a beautiful city in Belgium. I was born on the fifth day of the second month in the good old year 1973... This makes me 36 so far. And as long my memory go's music has always bin a part of my life. The person to have me inspired in my classical works is the great, great Wolfgang Mozart. I love this wonderful man's works and love the man him self as well. All i know today about composing notes together into a pleasant mix does come from listening to the delights he gave us. By the way: i can read music and do play the piano and the melodica or the wooden flute.

I will soon be sharing my efforts with you kind people and am looking forwards hearing your creations falling into my ears and heart!

Greetings: Peter Sammylin

I compose with a 17 year old Roland and a (recently updated) program called q-base on a ten year old mac.

Hi Im Hayley. Im 14 years old and i have been playing piano since i was 5 so far.... also before i could even read! :) i have 3 brothers who play piano, violin, and guitar. I just play piano. I have been taking piano for 8 or 9 years now

Hello, my name is Vassil Sotirov. I've just graduated the Sofia University in Bulgaria, with a degree in Musical Pedagogy. My instrument is guitar, but as any serious composer I'm learning the piano now. I am planning to study again and get a compositional degree, either here or in the US, which is where I grew up in my teenage years. I've been writing more seriously for about 5 years now, but the road ahead could sometimes feels overwhelming. My true passion for some time now has been polyphony and counterpoint, I've written a mass, some motets and ricercars, for both organ and harpsichord. I certainly look forward to meeting a lot of cool people here and of course discussing compositional problems of all sorts with them. :-)

I'm Tim. I'm 15. I'm your everyday kid, just trying to live his life.

So yeah. Guess I ran into this website and thought it was interesting to find other people who enjoy doing the thing I love doing most - composing music.

I've been using NoteWorthy Composer 1.75 Trial Edition as my medium ever since I've started writing music, back in grade 7, when I was 12. As I progressed through multiple different songs, my friends started to notice more and more, which is probably what inspired me to write my music today. I started off writing basic MIDI notes (still writing in MIDI today!) with a simple melody, harmony, and rhythm set-up. I then later discovered the large power I had within NoteWorthy, which lead me to writing music using all sorts of instruments. That was in grade 8 or 9.

The most notable thing about my music career though was probably how I dropped out of piano. Most composers I know usually take piano lessons up to a pretty high grade level before quitting, but I was straight out done after grade 4 piano. But thing is, there's a wide margin between the stuff I play compared to the stuff that I write.

Now, as things progressed, I learned more about what makes a song sound good and what particular sound I should achieve in order for it to appeal nicely to the audience. But, even though my music was limited to a demo program (I get 9 saves per song) that saves music in MIDI format, I've been using a free online converter to create my music ever since. Even so, I'm pretty confident in my own creations. So yeah. That sums up my composer-lifestyle, I guess, haha.

Check out my music at: xfactor.bandamp.com

I've covered most of the general genres, so it shouldn't be too hard to find something you can nod your head to. ;)

Cheers,

-Tim

Hey Tim, welcome!

Hello,

my name is Per and I live in Sweden.

I am interested in generative music that I can use in my games.

Welcome all!

Hi, my name is Zach, and I have only been composing music for a month :O By all means, criticize my musical endeavors to your hearts content! (Assuming I can figure out how to upload the music...)

Hello, my name is Trevor...I just want some guidance. :P

(Assuming I can figure out how to upload the music...)

If you're going to submit a work, song whatever ....

Open a thread in the suitable section (orchestra, piano etc) then if your are going to upload small files (a pdf, sib, mus, mid etc) you may use the "attachements" to upload into YC, if you're going to upload big files (a 20 min. mp3 for instance) you may go to box.net sign up and then upload your file, set the "share" option and post the link here, members will go there to see/listen your file.

Besides box.net there are more free host you may use ....

Howdy doodles!

I'm Alex Greene from Wisconsin... I improvise on the electric guitar and just started relearning the piano. I'm going to school for biochemistry, but my real passion lies in music and visual art. I've been fervently studying Music theory for the past 6 years or so with the help of Schoenberg's 'Theory of Harmony', listening to all types of music and transcribing it by ear, and just going by my intution.

I feel that I know enough about music theory and that I'm about ready to start the whole creative process of writing down what I feel. Unfortunately that's a lot harder than learning theory. Any suggestions?

I think the best thing you could do is wrinting one of those "improvisations" or write a piece for your guitar or the piano, (something you can play by yourself)

Play, write,

write, play, listen,

play, write (again :D )

...something like that ...

Thanks for the info! :)

Hi, my name is Michael Carter. I live in Crossroads, TX, and currently attend the University of North Texas. I graduated from high school in Allen, TX in 2009, and have been composing off and on for about four years. I mostly write random pieces that come into my head, mostly for wind band or a choir. Sometimes I remix old video game tunes (16-bit stuff) and have fun with that. I am a very small time composer, and will post my stuff up here for critique (constructive, hopefully) and just to see what people think. I hope to hear good things, and make some new friends :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention what I play. I am a trumpet concentration with a Band Music Education major in mind. I also play oboe, french horn, some trombone, and piano (self-taught for 2 years). So yeah...
