Hey-up! I discovered this place a few years ago, as it happens, but for some reason I forgot about it until now.

Anyway, I'm Tom, 20, from Cork, Ireland. I've been composing for about six years (after which time you'd think that I'd have improved slightly :D); I've been playing the piano since I was 5, I took up the harpsichord three years ago (the only difference is in touch, really - articulation's much clearer), and I took up the Organ two years ago, though I can't say that I'm much good at that.

My music's unashamedly tonal, with so many influences that even I can't determine exactly what they are. If you want to see some of my compositions, you can view a lot of them on SibeliusMusic (I don't upload new works there anymore, for various reasons).

Right-o, that's the introductions over and done with. I'm terrible at them, I really am. :D

No, that was pretty good. Welcome to the board!

I welcome you ALL to YC! The PARADISE for musicians!! :innocent:

Sort of...

Ciao.

I'm Steven S. Dante Mandella. I'm a Junior at Columbia Central High School in Tennessee. I've been composing since I was in 6th grade. I love the sound of brass instruments (they make me feel warm and fuzzy inside). As an instrumentalist, my weapon of choice is the concert french horn (preferably a double F/Bb), though I've made my way around various parts of the brass choir, and also jazz with a tenor and bari' sax in hand. As a composer, I feel as though it's more important to try to capture a feeling/emotion than trying to make it too technical and complicated. Many of my pieces are slower with long, deliberate chords. I will say, however, that I'm addicted to dissonance; especially major 7ths and "jazzier" chords. Anyhow, that's that.

Thank you, YC, for being here.

Ciao, Dante. Parli Italiano?

There are a few of us around here.

S

Cuz he's italian.

[/b]

Ah, he and I both then. I'm a second-generation American; my grandparents on both sides of my family are from Sicily.

My dad is from there.

Ah, you're Italian American. Nico is Italiano 100%

Italian, i only have like 20% italian in me but my great great grandparents were from Italy.

Ah, you're Italian American. Nico is Italiano 100% ;)

Aye, if you're refering to geneology, so am I. So was Nico born in Italy? He's not an American citizen? Nico, do you have your green card? :P

Pardon the ignorance, I'm new. :D

Lol, nico is a rich spoiled american kid. He merely has italian blood. On a side note, Nico is a disgrace to all italian. He can't get hot chicks.

Haha; In that case, I'm a disgrace to Italianism too. Oh well, non me importa. :D

I DECLARE YOU ALL TO BE BRITISH!

I declare myself a hot chick :D

As Italians. I order you all to win her...now!

You lying bastard, I have plenty of Italy stories you don't want to hear...unless you're gay.......in which you would love to hear them.

*wins Hillary*.

So I only want to hear the stories if I am gay. So do the stories include you doing gay things with other men? Also, i'm not the one who said you don't get hot chicks first. You did. I have proof!

Again, you're just a rich american spoiled brat. Get over it embrace it and all that jazz.

proof!

Yeah, but, I don't get really good-looking girls. He can do better

1) Nico was born in Canada: he just lives in America.

2) His parents are both italian. The place where you're born doesn't affect that.

3) If you think he's not italian, why say that.

Aye, if you're refering to geneology, so am I. So was Nico born in Italy? He's not an American citizen? Nico, do you have your green card?

Pardon the ignorance, I'm new.

I heard one of the princes of Jugoslavia was born in London: that doesn't make him British.

If you're referring to geneology, his dad's italian, his mom's italian. I believe that means Nico's italian.

Regradless, he is still a rich american brat.

On a side note, why are you trying to hard to defend nico's italian blood. He is pretty much americanized. Ie laziness.

Greetings! I am a new-commer here and i have a few questions, a comment or to... the usual. First off, i just want to know how to get the music out of my head and onto a friggin piece of paper. Are there any books, classes, websites, anything that anyone can think of? It would be great for your help.

oh! and if you're wondering about the name, lets just say i had no clue what to put down for a name and wrote the first thing i saw...

bye... peace.. c yuh... im outie... whatever (figured my overly formal introduction needed some enthusiasm)

Welcome to the site!

What kind of music do you write? or want to know how to write. Have you had any formal musical training? If so what? And for how long? I'm just curious as to how exactly you involve yourself in music and hopefully I can point you in the direction of what you're looking for.

Welcome! Who the hell are you? What's your real name? Are you male or female?
