Hey, Recorri! Your intro makes perfect sense, and welcome. :) I've had a growing interest in folk music, especially from Asian countries. Does any of your home country's folk music influence your own music in any way, I wonder?

Hey Recorri! Welcome to YC...please stick around and chat with us about composition...we need more girls here (if indeed that is you in your avatar..I am assuming you are a girl :) )

Aw, I want to go to China. Recorri, your intro is fine. :)

oh~~~well~~i think it might influence a bit? not really sure..

but....the new trend of Chinese pop music is a combination product of Chinese traditional stuff and modern stuff.....

P.S. my avatar is me....yer....i'm a girl :D :) ......few girls compose right?~

Another female??

Welcome, welcome

(I too am a girl :ermm: )

thnx~~~ :P but......just two of us? :ermm:

Nope, I am also female

There's a few of us but it's always nice to meet another female composer. They seem a little too rare

EDIT: (reply to gizzy) VV

Well, all the regularly active ones.... :ermm:

ok, so like almost all the females here (including me, yes!!) have posted on this page now, hahahaha

wow~~~that's really nice to see you girls~~~~ :P :ermm:

come on~~`girls are also good composers~~

Welcome. I like your name, how is it pronounced?

Sorry I couldn't respond fast. It's hard to explain... Oguzcan is like two different names put together, Oguz and Can. Oguz is pronounced like Ous and Can is pronounced like John.

wow~~~that's really nice to see you girls~~~~ :D :D

Of course women make excellent composers, too! Some of my favorites are Lisa Gerrard, Viollaine Corradi, and Loreena McKinnett. Plus, Libbie Larsen is probably the biggest name among living composers today (not including film composers like John Williams or Danny Elfman).

Hello everyone! Hope I've come to the right place.

I'm Sil-jun (everyone calls me Noodz/Noodelz) and I'm from England.

I'm still quite new to composing, I started when I was 13 (now 14). I mainly write for the piano since I myself am a pianist. My favourite composer would be beethoven or Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi. He's not very famous here in England, I don't know what it's like across the pond.

Hopefully I'll be able to put some of my compositions on here. Are MP3s OK? I've recorded most of them myself and the quality is very very poor. Some are in midi but I don't have any fancy software which can change the tempo or anything so sometimes it's not so good.

Anyway, hello! Ummm...that's it.

Hi Noodelz and welcome to the site ::dry:

You're allowed to link to MP3s hosted offsite in your posts but you cannot currently upload them to the forum, though MIDIs are always welcome.

Ah, OK. Thanks.

Question:

When you can identify each tone correctly of a random three tone chord, just by ear, is this then a relative pitch task?

Depends. You can do it with relative or perfect pitch, although finding the first note would be more of a perfect pitch thing.

Of course I know Joe Hisashi! He's, in my humble oppinion, just about the best composer of incindental music out there! My only wish is that he would do some concert works, I think they'd be amazing. :P

OMFG! You from sydney, and i guess your chinese.

From malaysia?

Hello, I'm Last Life on the internet, but my Name is Eliot Burk. I've been composing for about 3 years now (I'm 16), but I'm still very much a begginer. I compose a great variaty of types of music, but mostly experimental music and romantic-esque music. My favorite composer is Igor Stravinsky closely followed by John Cage and Charles Ives. So far I haven't really been able to receive adequate feedback on my compositions and I hope that I can get that here.

Hi there, my name is Saul Dzorelashvili, im new to this website.

Wanted to say hello to everyone.

A John Cage fan? :D

Welcome :)

Hello everyone.

I'm sooo glad I found a forum for people who like the music I do!:)

I'm very interested in classical music, jazz, composing and the such. I recently acquired my aspiration to become a bassoon/saxophone performance major. I'm taking Music Theory AP this year, though I'm new to composition. I kind of figured joining a forum liek this might help me along through the class.

Anyways, Yeah... I'm happy. I hope I get to know you'all better. :D

Hey... thanks for that very warm welcome....
