Welcome :)

There is a thread in the "off topic" forum for introductions. Post there and you may get a bit of a warmer reception. :(

And tell us a little about yourself, pique our interest :D

Hello ,

My name is Saul Dzorelashvili Im a classical composer. I live in New york city. I was born in the republic of Georgia in eastern europe and was raised in Israel and New york. I play the piano and have written over 80 orchestral , chamber and piano works.

Yes, hello Saulsmusic. Sorry I didn't spot your post. But I'm a recent new member and this is a bit of a closed institution. Post a few musical and off-topic things and you'll soon be part of it.

Hi...

(Hi? thats it?! what are you some sort of #%!&@?!!)

Just joking, getting a little cranky these dayz, welcome welcome :P

Well... I'm back...

(I think...)

Hi.

I was going to just write "Hi.", but per the above posts, that might not be wise...

I just joined the forum, and it appears this is the place to start.

Piano is my instrument, which I have played for a long time, though I mostly unskilled in theory.

Hence, the pieces I'll post will require lots of hearty critics.

If you're a hearty critic, you will have plenty of chances to give harsh criticism:) which I like by the way--especially since really no one has seen my music.

I look forward to reviewing pieces, and learning quite a bit as well.

...Hi >>

I joined the forum a few days ago, this is my first day of posting. I started playing violin when I was 4, switched to viola at 10, started composing at 11, and am 12 now =).

I pretty much know noone that likes composing, so this site seemed interesting. I look forward to learning a lot here!...because boy do I have a lot to learn XD

Au revoir

Welcome E = F Flat :D

Greetings. My name is Chris and I am new to the forums.

I am fifteen years old (turning sixteen in March, 2007) and am a Freshman in high school. I play sousaphone (a tuba that is suitable for marching) in my high school marching band. We have 153 students in this group.

I also play in the high school wind ensemble. The wind ensemble is a group of musicians who are above average players. This consists of mostly juniors and seniors, so I consider it to be quite an accomplishment to be in such an ensemble.

I also play Electric Bass in the Spartanaires, our high school's show choir.

I have always had an interest in music. I decided recently that I want to major in music education. I am a new composer and am just starting to get familiar with higher end theory. This board has alot of good information about composing and I hope it can help.

Thank you,

Chris

Welcome Chris. Hope you will enjoy it here.

!!!

How on earth do they manage a 150 member band!? Mine has 80 and it's a disaster, 150 is insane!

nice, a wind ensemble my school had one of those last year, welcome chris!

By Texas and Oklahoma standards, a 150-member high school band is considered very small. My high school's band had almost 400, and it was pretty average.

How do they do it? Well, as far as I can tell, maybe 25-30% of the people in the band are actually playing their instruments, the rest are playing one or two notes here and there and otherwise just faking it...

well that's hardly fair... 400 is like my whole school, there aren't many people in newfoundland though. texas and oklahome though have a lot of people i'm assuming. plus, if you're not learning your music, you're kicked out in my school.

I honestly don't need to say any more :P

:D

before i watch it, describe it to me. i have to wait at least a half houer before i can watch all of it.

there's a high school band i know of that has what.. 10 people. and they're not bad.
