Hey, I'm Nathan. I'm 14 years old, and play piano, drums, guitar, and just starting bass and Harmonica. I want to learn how to make actual compositions, and record all the parts played by me.

Hey Chief and Nathan! Welcome to the forum! You will find a lot of people who can help you learn.:D

Hi! I'm Amani Haskins, from Camden, NJ. I'm still in school, going into my senior year. I was in the NAACP ACT-SO competition for music composition and got a silver medal for my song, Devotion. Devotion is a jazz, bossa song.

We could always use another jazzer. :D

Hello:) I am a 14 year old who has been composing music all by my self for 2 years so Im looking forward to connect with other people and learn a lot.:D

Hi hello!

Firstly, I'd like to say, MY GOD this thread is long.

Secondly, I'd like to say, yaaay for music!

Thirdly, I suppose I should probably actually introduce myself... considering this is the "introdouce yourself" thread.

What a wise idea!

My name's Aarti, (true story that one!), but you may call me rt, for the more readily typable-ness of it. Oh, and I'm 17! I live in the good old land of Australia, and I've played piano for a while now. I can't remember exactly when I started, but I do know that I've had at least 7 teachers!

And no, I didn't scare them away.

I just started singing lessons this year, so that's going interestingly.

Umm, I enjoy the composition of things! I don't know how good I am at it, since it's never been tried and tested on a scale any grander than my friends, and a music teacher. So, hmm. haha, I quite like some of them though.

Stylistically, I don't know what KIND of music I compose... it can be sort of irish dancey-y, but I suppose I use kind of jazzy chords, and I guess it's kind of modern... it could be made into a rock song with other instruments... haha, I really don't know...

But it's fun nonetheless.

I also fail at Sibelius.

It kills me.

It's the reason I came here in the first place really! haha, but now that I am here, I bet there's heaps I can learn off all you chamber groups organising, choir master-y, music-at-university learning, musical viruoso type people!

SO... yes! =)

Hope to talk to allll of you snazzy kids and not-kids soon!

WOW! I'm impressed!

This place is full of great people and from different backgrounds!

I'm really happy that I found this forum!

Well, I'm a 20 year old guy from Italy and unfortunately my scarce involvement in real music as a child/teen was possible only thanks to my school: our compulsory 13 years of basic music theory classes, tenor in my secondary school's choir and singer/actor for a few musicals.

I never attended conservatory or real instrument classes unlike most other musicians here; however, if I improve my time management I might even consider doing an evening course.

I started composing the day a friend of mine gave me a notation software (Capella) and I've been doing some... ehm... experimental music :)

( Well, yes, it's kinda strange: although I have no formal education in music, I already try to invent my own styles :whistling: )

I hope that I might learn more and get some advice on this forum, also on technical matters.

Anyway, my dream would be to be able to compose something along the influences of Ennio Morricone ("The Good, the bad and the ugly" and many others) and John Williams: background music, film music, soundtracks.

Although most of my current music reminisces some crazy people like Stockhausen, Arvo P

Welcome to the forum, Stormchords and Aarti! Nice that you've joined.

Welcome Aarti, Stormclouds...hope you stick around!

Yeah guys, stay with us.. We're desperately needing new blood. So many people have left us!

hi I'm Nicole.

I play piano, guitar, French horn and i sing (or whatever else i want to play)

I've been playing and writing music since i was little maybe around 10?

i always knew i wanted to be a musician all my life but i didn't know how to start

But over the past 3 years I've started to really get serious and now i know exactly what to do.

I've never taken lessons i just do it all by ear. i may not have all the teaching and theory, but i enjoy playing and entertaining people and expressing myself through my music

some of my music is on www.myspace.com/migehpupr

i'd love some feedback and comments.

Hello, my name is Cory. I've been playing music since I was 12, I am 19 now. I am almost ifnishing my last year in college, majoring in Audio Engineering and minoring in Music. I have played the guitar for 7 years and the keyboard for about half a year now. I am heavily into the heavy metal genres, psytrance/goa, EBM, ambient and orchestral works.

Hopefully I can add to the community here and grow as a composer, and possibly help others. Thanks!

Hey, my name's Phoenix. I've posted here before but I think it was awhile ago. Anyways, I'm 15, my main instrument is drum set but I play lots of orchestral percussion as well, and I also can play some guitar and piano. I write lots of progressive expiremental metal, and I have started making electronica stuff as well as ambient soundscapes. About 6 months ago I have started really liking classical music and writing pieces here and there. Basically I am a composing noob so I have come here to hopefully learn a lot and help people learn too.

Hey I'm Scott from the US.

I am a Vocal student and I love composing.

I've been at for a few months now.

Hi I'm Charlie and come from England.

I play the Flute (grade 5 :S) and thats about it.

Seems like I'm a bit behind most people...

Oops.. I forgot to introduce myself ;)

I'm Alex. I'm 14, which I don't think comes across in my writing style. I play the oboe, clarinet, piano, transverse flute, fife, english horn, and sing. I like to sleep, swim, ride bikes, talk to friends, counsel people, work on my website, oboe.ducky....

That's about it ;)

Alex
