Greets, Timothy, you will find a lot of versatility in these halls.

Hi, Huckle, nice to have more violoncellists abroad!

Hey, Nick, you joined the right place!

Welcome, all! :D

Hey, I'm Michael. I've played piano for 6 years, and clarinet for 7. I have a lot of trouble making pieces go somewhere... I get an idea but after a certain amount of measures I can't seem to expand on it. I've gone here hopefully for some inspiration, so that maybe I can actually write a piece!

I'm also considering going into composition in college, which I'm applying to in the next coming months. I don't have many ideas on where to go, but if anyone knows of any schools known for good music (or specifically composition) programs, please tell me. I'll probably start a thread on this if it hasn't been made yet, I haven't looked around yet.

Music Schools

THANKS! I'll take a look.

Hi I'm from Queensland in Australia. Um, I'm 16... I can play piano, clarinet, sax and my own voice and can kind of play the violin. I can't really compose well but would like to learn.

Hey. Welcome.

Well, this is my second post.

My name is Francisco Huhn, I live in Portugal and I'm 15. Compared with the most people in this forum, I know nothing about music... but I still like it... I play Piano and played the Clarinet.

I'm not much good composing, but I want to learn... So, what Composing Tutorials do you recommend?

BTW, I use Sibelius. Do you recommend other programs (FreeWare if possible).

Regards

How 'bout finale notepad? It's ok as far as freeware. Tutorials? Just try and learn from the others around here. There's some pretty talented people worth talking to for sure.

Another Portugal dude? They're out to take over the world. Them and the UK.

That makes four people from Portugal (the other three are Berlioz, M is D, and Verdi Lver). I'm actually writing a Farce about Portugal right now. You can ask either Berlioz or Tom

I didn't know that Portugal was so famous around here!

Alex: Indeed, we took the world in the past... Africa, Brazil, Macau... (We started the maritime adventure in the 15th, 16th centurys and then, in the latest years of the 16th century, the Spanish, British, Dutch, French, Italian and German people started too.)

Actually, I think that the Chineses are taking over the world.

WE Saphire: When you finish the Farce, warn me because I want to hear it.

Hope I learn composing and other music stuff with you (you = all members in this forum).

Regards

Hi I'm Christine,

I'm 15, I live in australia and I've been playing music since I was 5.

I play piano (10 years) and cello (6 years).

I'm a member of the Tasmanian Youth Sinfonia and I am mostly self-taught as a cellist.

I recently got Sibelius 4 and started composition at school but I'm not likely to actually post much as I just cannot finish pieces.

My idol is Jacqueline Du Pre and she inspires me to further my musical knowledge.

I'm also an artist and you can see some of my work at:

That's about it I guess,

A girl?!?

You, my friend, are a rare breed in these parts.

Jacqueline du Pr

Welcome, Christine!

Hmm, Jacqueline du Pr

YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF JACQUELINE?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!!?!?!?!??!

That's it. You've seriously hit my funny bone in a most unhumorous way.

Yeah, I'm a cellist who doesn't know Jacqueline du Pr

COMPUTER GEEK?!

Psh. As if, man.

Hey guys,

I'm a professional composer and sound designer, with experience on over 75 credits. I have experience working on Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, PC and web based video games and many anime projects. My website, www.madsenstudios.com, has 28 listening and 9 video samples that can show you want I'm capable of delivering. (I also have plenty more samples, but those can only be shared in a non-public fashion since they haven't been released yet.)

I look forward to talking with many of you, helping out others and gaining new ideas and approaches from others.

Thanks,

Nathan Madsen

Welcome, Mr. Madsen, it's always nice to have people with your experience around. I hope you stay on for a while- you probably have some good advice for our aspiring video game composers

Thanks! I hope to be of help to anyone needing it!

You wrote the music to Full Metal Alchemist?!?!

You wrote the music to Full Metal Alchemist?!?!

Wait, what?

Who are you talking about? What happened to Ōshima Michiru? >_>

IDK...there was a full metal alchemist video on his site. Am I jumping to conclusions again? I need a hug...

No, I wrote the music for the trailer, not the actual episodes.

Funimation develops trailers for all of the shows and often times needs original music and sound design for those trailers. So part of my job is writing that music and producing the SD for them. I also produce the music for many of the DVDs themselves. Sometimes I have to write original music, other times simply produce the loops from the music from the show. Just depends on what kinds of archives we have from the shows.
