Mr. Montoya? Holy crap, this is weird! One of my school's band directors on YC!

(I'm in PCEP orchestras.)

HAHAHA

Actually... he's my younger brother! But I have written the marching band music the last two years for PCEP.

Ah, I see. I've never actually met him personally. Well, that makes it a little less weird.

You've never met one of you band directors? How does he direct...webcam? Email? Telepathy? Skype?

I'm not in band. I've met the other band directors, though, because they've been here longer.

Hello ladies and gents,

My name is Nick. I am 17. I live in the U.S, and am currently enrolled in my senior year of high school. I am a novice composer. I feed off of my recently intensified passion for choral and symphonic music. I am currently working on a piece for our school's prep show choir (voices/instrumentation), as a well a large ensemble choral piece, both of which will have a place in my college portfolio for audition into the school of music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I look forward to exploring this site and making connections with as many of you as possible! God bless.

Hi Im Herman

Hello. My name is Ben, I'm 21, and I'm from Detroit, MI. I have been playing bass as my primary instrument since I was about 9, and I play a slew of other instruments. I am a composition and theory major at Wayne State University. I have been composing since I was 12 or 13.

:D:toothygrin:hi Mike!!!!! Samantha and Rachel have not been composing very long. However, Samantha is a very good lyricist!

Hey, my name's Josh. I've played piano my whole life, and started playing the clarinet in fourth grade. I am now in high school and this site looks like it could come in handy =)

Seasons Greetings, to you all.

Let us learn and grow from what is already there in us.

In the spirit of the holidays, I shan't threaten the lives of any who join here in the next two weeks. 'tis my present to the n00bs. Greetings to all!

Hi, my name's Ben. I'm a Baritone-Bass (C2-F#4 (up to a Bb5 on a really good day)) in my senior year of high school, and will hopefully be a dual major in vocal performance & music education next year. I just started composing as a hobby (mostly choral music) less than a month ago, so I'm not very good, but I'm really hoping on becoming better, and this site seems like a very useful tool to do so. :)

the name is allain and singing is my middle name... writing is my game... and putting music on it is a pain.... lool..

That title, if you can read it, should say my name, but for those who cant read Japanese, my name is John, i'm seventeen straight out of the middle of nowhere. I play piano, so most of my music is written for it. I need help on a few songs I'm working on writing for choir. My favorite composers are Stephen Sondheim and Eric Whitacre. How would somebody like to look over my work, help me fix it up, and/or write new songs. Keep in mind, i base my work off of emotion and thoughts, rather than sticking to one melody. So, if anyone sees interest, mail me. I could use your help.

Hi I'm Shelomoh Im 15 and have been composing music for jazz bands and the band that I am in called JueZiQ (juzick). I have taken up an interest in composing for games and hope to learn more about composing from the people here. :)

My name is Chris, I'm 23, from Southern California. I have a relative knowledge of music.

I play one instrument, piano. Though I've been playing for roughly 10 years and can play some pieces, I have bad form and can barely sight read. I want to relearn somewhat, especially from other people. I also sequence music like midis and stuff whenever I feel like it on occasion.

I recently graduated with a BA in geography, a discipline I have accrued much apathy for, especially this year. This year I came to a convincing conclusion that music is my true passion. I will likely be working with the government on the 2010 national census this next year. But my main goal in life is to significantly develop better piano performance and musical composition skills.

Hi I'm Dan. I'm 13 years old and I've been playing Alto Saxophone for 4 years.

Hey,

I'm Anthony, and I'm 19. I just finished my semester in College. I study at the Boston Conservatory, where I am Majoring in Voice. I take extra composition classes on the side, where I study under Osvaldo Golijov. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Hello Young Composers,

My name is Sunny and I am 17 years old. I am somewhat of a freelance composer, although I have yet to contribute to a paying position. I'm looking forward to sharing some of my music and participating in the community here. If you have any questions or just want to say hello, feel free to; I won't bite. :D

Hi,

I'm Jeff and I'm 18 years old and a freshman composition/education major at the University of Idaho. I love music a LOT and composition is my biggest passion. I am a percussion major but also play Upright Bass (and guitar), Piano and sing in a couple choirs. This seems like a really cool website and I can't wait to get to know all of you!

Hi, I'm Goncalo from Portugal, the little country at the western coast of Europe. Hoping to grow as a composer, as well as being as helpful as possible to other fellow composers.

Please indulge me, if you will. I am a student and am doing a term paper. I would like to ask just a few general questions to someone about how they got interested in composing, at what age they realized their interest or potential, were they pushed or merely encouraged by their parents? If they feel comfortable telling me their general socio-economic status and that of other composers they know. General questions of that type. I do not need names or where they live. I realize this is a forum for serious musical composers and do not intend to undermine the intent of this forum. I respect your decision if you do not feel this is a request you can meet. Thank you.

Hi. Mr. verdi.

Hi,

My name is Ferdinand, am 46 and living in Belgium (Europe). Taking into account my age I am for sure not the youngest to register here. :-).

Although not really having a musical family background, music has always played, as far back as I can remember, an essential part of my life. Destinated for a professional career as a pianist, I decided to give up music at the death of my first boyfriend to turn to the field of archaeology. Some 14 years later, circumstances similar to those which made me give up music, made me turn to music once again. How strange ....

Although I liked playing the piano as a child, I was fascinated by what I could create myself: putting small dots on a piece of paper, thus making something which was my own. 'Dots' have been written down since the age of 12; composing started a few years later....

Having been tortured by the regular set of courses thought necessary to create music in my youth, I decided at that time not to obey to the laws they dictated. At that time established theories did not co
