Adagio [Temporary name] [Real recording]

Ok, I will sound quite dissenting consider the raves this receives. For something in the film genre this is a strong work. But looking beyond the genre, I think it is a very well executed student work - conservatory work.

I have heard stronger works from past members here - Gardener and QC but they are no longer here so it may be an unfair comparison. By stronger - much greater risk taking with texture, form etc ...

Anyway, sorry my difference in taste doesn't make me rave about this piece. Nevertheless, I deserves commendation for its quality in the genre it falls into.

  • Awesome! Ten stars for real. Upload the full work. Everything here is mostly right. Orchestras nowadays typically use Cs, but Bbs are far from unusual. They're basically the same deal as far as

Wow thanks a lot! :) This piece was mostly inspired by such composers as Ennio Morricone, Bernard Hermann, Hans Zimmer and of course John Williams. I think there's even some Jeremy Soule in there.

It's all about style. Maybe I should have posted it in Incidental instead.

I disagree with CO. This piece doesn't need to "take risks" to be considered something "more than a student work." The material you use is compelling and it doesn't take introducing additional techniques to make it so. It doesn't belong in incidental, in my opinion. This work can be performed in a concert hall just as much as be heard in a film.

Oh my, the emotion is flourishing in this! And as already mentioned I can feel the influence too. I hope you go a long way Max.

You mean that weird whine? It wasn't intentional, sounds like some frequency spike in the violas.

Very beautiful and sophisticated. I wonder how much time did you put into this?

I would like to whole thing some day.

Nice work there! Was this intended for anything in particular? I mean a movie composition class or something like that? Anyway, wonderful job.

Thanks, this was just for regular composition class. We don't have movie composition class here, not yet at least.

Very nice

As all have said before - this is very well written and strikes a deep emotional chord.

But how long until, "imitation is the best form of flattery", is not enough?

This really is a very, very cool score. Based on this you are a great composer.

I loved it, as did everybody else, by the looks of it :)

Keep up the good work. I couldn't find anything that didn't fit, and everything kept with the atmosphere you were conveying.

All-in-all, a very good piece, that I might even go as far to say it's a work of genius.

I can definitely see the cinematic influences in this writing (horns + strings in octaves, very nice), and someone else said this, but your work here is very Brahmsian, esp. with the 2-against-3 areas as well as a few ideas orchestrationally, such as 174 when the full string section enters, reminds me of I think mvt II of symphony 4...ANYWAY, the point here is that you have very very good senses both melodically and orchestrationally and I look forward to more work from you. And I do hope that this piece either becomes a fully standalone work or becomes a movement for a suite or symphony somewhere down the road.
