July 18, 201015 yr That's not bad. I wished the audio was not a midi though. Pieces like these don't sound very good as midi. The best thing would be a human performance. Not much to say about the piece, although next time, try to use more chords. In the main theme of this piece, you kept repeating a Eb major and Gb major arpeggio in the left hand. It actually works, but you should be aware of it and try not to do it too often.
July 18, 201015 yr I really like the theme. It has a very majestic feeling to it. But like Ian said, the midi sound and machinery really jeopardizes the overall mood. But from what there, it's very good work.
July 18, 201015 yr I liked it, particularly the first 8 measures (very nice opening). Once it gets into the "big flowing, epic climax" I was less interested. You should watch the voice leading, you often emphasis the same notes in both the right hand and left hand, which generally leads to a thin, kinda lame sound. If you study a little harmony, you'll quickly learn the classic rules of avoiding parallel 5ths and 8ves, for just this reason. I know people say that you can just ignore the rules of classical harmony with contemporary composition, but you really can't. Especially when you're writing something like this in a late romantic style. Also, you should write some pedal clear markings, otherwise the entire thing will be completely muddy. The MIDI file choked up on me every few measures because there were too many notes ringing, and I had to restart it a bunch to listen through (this is only a problem on macs, really). I know it may seem like a good idea to let it all ring, but trust me, it sounds better if you put some clear markings in this style.
