Forgotten Final

Brief solo piano piece =)

Forgotten Final

Actually, I think the inclusion of the strings makes this more of a Chamber work :P

This is nice -- it's soft and atmospheric, relaxing yet meaningful, in a way...sounds like something that would play in the background of a solemn movie scene.

There's a lot of treble here -- I found myself itching for some well placed deep bass notes. Nothing brutal, necessarily, just something to give "depth" to the piece with it's good melody

Good work :D

Very, very nice. Reminds me of Arvo Part's Spiegel im spiegel. Not in the sense that your piece is minimalistic. Your piece is vastly different from Part's, lol. It's just the feeling that that high solo piano gives me. As I write this, I am listening to it for the second time. I think this piece has a very nice sense of structure. It flows almost seamlessly from one section to the next. Are you a pianist? Because I feel as if this were a piece only a pianist could write, lol. As SergeOfArniVillage said before me, I could see this as film music. My only wish is that it were longer and that it had a nice heart-rending climax. Some nice string dissonance could be very nice here (quasi Eric Whitacre's "Sleep").

I've listened to it 4 times already, haha. Great job!

You know, as I was listening to this, I could only think of one thing that was missing...

I really feel this piece needed more oboe, and that inclusion of the oboe would've made it sound nicer.

I also like the bit with lots of notes - it was nice.

Nice work, keep it up.

Don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like you have what I've got. <img src="http://network.youngcomposers.com/elgg/ipb/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif" alt=":P" /> Perhaps it should be called "film music-itis." There's very little in the way of development of any sort here. The texture shifts a tiny bit, but it's all basically one sound with similar harmonic content the entire time.

That said, it is very beautiful. It's like music for a sad scene in a movie. You don't really want much going on in the music to distract from the drama going on on-screen.

But keep in mind, this isn't a movie, it's a composition. The music IS the center of attention, not a mood-setter. There should be enough going on in the music by itself to capture the listeners' emotions and lead them on a journey.

I really feel this piece needed more oboe

I agree, 100% with that. More Oboe would definitely add depth. In fact, I don't think you can ever have enough oboe.

Good work though, you should be proud.

Don't add oboe.

The word "oboe" sounds weird now.

Darn oboe

Darn oboe

Very nice and tranquil. Thanks for sharing!

This work is really suited for film music, or new age style piece. This isn't bad; I consider a big advantage exploring this areas of music too.

Instrumentation is fine. As MiggTor said I think this don't need a oboe.

Thanks for sharing this
