Titanic 2012 World Premiere

Hi Folks. Just an anouncement of my upcoming premiere in April. All are invited to attend.

The St. Davids Orchestra Society of Eastern University presents the world premiere of "Titanic 2012" by Justin Tokke. A dramatic narrative for orchestra and spoken narrators, the piece is written in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912. 100 years later, this powerful story of the largest ship afloat striking an iceberg on her maiden voyage, is retold through music and narration comprised of quotes by survivors of the tragedy. The premiere will be conducted by the composer.

The concert also features a second world premiere by St. Davids Orchestra Society director David Bryant entitled "Number 13". Styled in a 1930s radio drama, this piece recounts M. R. James's short ghost story about a mysterious disappearing hotel room aptly numbered "13".

Tickets available through the Eastern University Box Office:

$10 General Admission

$5 for Students with EU ID.

This concert is part of the Spring Music Festival, a series of three concerts by the Eastern University Music Department on April 27-28. Admission to one concert entitles admission to all three.

I may upload the piece to YC beforehand, but I'm skeptical. We'll see.

I'm very interested in this - although I'm almost certainly unable to attend (can't afford plane tickets right now). I'd love to get a closer look at this work.

And BTW, I like the flyer! It's not like this kind of picture will shock anyone - in fact I bought a book on Famous Catastrophes with a very similar picture on its cover (which did a lot to spark my interest).

Not enough mangled infant-corpses in the flyer. There should be at least five times more crassness.

Or else it should be a comedy, with David Hyde Pierce as the loveable, but inept, captain shrugging impishly beside the picture of the sinking ship.

Who designed the flyer?

Me.

If your "Titanic 2012" is supposed to be in commemoration, don't you think a picture of the actual sinking ship is in bad taste?

No. It tells the story of what happened.

Yes. Just for absolute clarification that we're talking about the ship that sunk 100 years ago.

And not this:

It's in 'Advertisements and Member Announcements'.
