October 1, 20169 yr It's emotive and sweet. I don't see a clear structure in the piece, as it is always moving forward. Perhaps it was your intention, but I believe that, even in short pieces, a structure is good. If you plan it, you can do many more things with the same material.
October 1, 20169 yr I hear this one as more somber than the ensemble version... perhaps that's just conditioning, but this is darker to me rather than lush. Some of the vertical chords in this one compared to the other are a lot harsher and get things "over with" relatively quickly. That doesn't make it worse necessarily, it just feels more rushed than the ensemble version... probably because of the very sudden-attack timbre of the instrument. Most of the musical ideas in this one carry from my other review.
