[WIP 2] Combat Theme 1 [looper]

Featured Replies

My first combat theme attempt. Your reviews help me :)

These 2 are my current active projects for now

I think it depends on how huge you want the battle scene to be with this one.

If it is a battle on a smaller scale this would fit perfectly but on a more bigger scale, I think it could use more snare rolls and a few more fills.

In general I do get a combat feeling, but also maybe boost the tempo a bit to get the adrenaline going more. Add in a kick drum pattern and a closed high hat. Since this is a short loop, I don't think a cymbal would be a good idea unless you add it at the end before it loops. Maybe boost the volume on the instruments you used over the snares.

Percussion compared to the tones and effects are slightly overwhelming.
I agree with Lost on the tempo and fills. Fills break the ostinato and really bring home a drive to the end. Suspended cymbal rolls would also be perfect during these ending sections of phrases.
This felt like to a procession of a battle rather than a battle itself. If you want an actual battle, using more tonal systems rather than percussive ones would be a nice way to do that; make sure the treble, mid, and bass are all used!
Cheers!
