November 14, 20169 yr This is an exercise. Taking the bass from Purcell's Dido Lament (when I am laid) as a ground bass, I built a canon at the unison.

November 17, 20169 yr I think this is nice. Short but effective. As an aside I must confess that during those rare times when I am laid my mood tends to be somewhat less somber.

November 23, 20169 yr Great! Personally, I like the way the suspensions resolve. They don't quite release to the totally pleasant place you want. It's more like a sigh, which fits with the theme of a lament.
