Non-sense/Imperfect

Hello everyone,

This is my very first post here on youngcompers. I would like to have your feedback on one of my latest music "broken" which is a very, very short instumental music.

This piece is part of my new project called "Non-sense" where I try to push music to the absurd and unbearable levels, but still maintain a musical structure.

It's so almost tonal, that it's just crossing the line of uncomfortably atonal. It doesn't feel like free atonality. It almost feels like set theory process music which is fine in its own right, but really bizarrely executed here. 
I don't really have a right to complain, since I see all the processes going on here at a time. I just think that it's so close to being tonal, that clashes should be more like dissonances, than atonality in this particular case, but that's just a personal opinion.

Uncanny valley for sure. Really not a whole lot going on here, but what you have feels awkward, not in a good avant garde way but in a poorly written way.

Did you read the descripition? Im not trying to make random dissonances like most of the modern composers do, I actually want to people fell akward, I'm  going to be honest with you, I dont like to compose those modern musics in where composers try to express themselves by writing random notes and chords just because they were felling it. I rather prefer to show a dark side of music, maintain a "reasonable" structure from classicism or romantism but then add dissonances. Look for Mozart's Musical Joke in F. Im trying to do the same but worst. If you take this too seriously, you wont understand it. Try to think it as a musical joke!

Okay, that's fair enough. However, are you familiar with the uncanny valley? It is a phenomenon in which something that is close to something we expect but not quite becomes unnerving, creepy, unpleasent, etc. It is generally used to describe how a robot looking robot does not make most people uncomfortable, and an entirely human like robot does not make most people uncomfortable, but a robot that is almost human has an effect of seeming creepy and weird, In any case, that seems comparable to what this makes me feel. It is obviously not atonal or serial. There is a strong sense of tonality, but your awkward application of it does not give me the sense of novelty or any sort of interest. Rather it comes off as someone using "the wrong chord" on purpose just for the feeling of wrongness it induces. Which I don't think works. If you dig it fantastic.

And for the record, generally, with exceptions, modern and neomodern tonal set ups are usually not random. In fact a great deal of dissonant works have very targeted and intentional tonal structures. Although, of course there are composers who have utilized random arrangements, including a lot of serial work.

Opaqueambiguity I aprecciate your feedback. I have other works on this style if you want to follow just to give me your opinion because i want to compose better and I could use constructive opinions! I agree with you, I just dont think if what you didnt like I made it that way on purpose.
