Hello,

I wanted to write som court music, so here is my little fugue for 2 trumpets and 2 trombones in c major.

Please telle med what you think!

Very nice! In some points the lines are a bit ecstatic (repeated notes). I suppose it's because of the difficulty of writing for 4 voices.

It reminds me the calling in that big square in Prague.

Loved it! So well-done it gave me chills...

wow, such a lovely fuge. Brilliant! It transports me to the English courts by the time of Henry Purcell or Frederick Haendel...I love this kind of music and as a composer I find the fugue to be probably the most difficult achivement in music.

Just one observation: the last chord have a very open disposition and I see a enormeus gap between the second Trumpet and the first Trombone of 2 octaves + a major 6. When I do 4 voice writing I try to keep in mind the distance between intermediate voices to be an octave or smaller. Of course you find usually high distances by the great masters, and in fugue composition the parts have more freedom, but I feel your final chord is somehow inestedy, because of that enormeus gap. Have you considered placing the final trombone note (G) an octave higher?

Maybe I'm wrong, since I never had a solid study in composition, so I'm curious to know what other composers' opinion about that...
