Monarcheon
It's been a while since I've written something truly tonal; even my musical theater stuff uses post-tonal theory. You'll hear the main motives a lot, and my intent was to practice imitation in various ways. Hope you enjoy!
Luis Hernández
I love the intimate tone of this work. Also the simplicity of the lines.
jawoodruff
Measure 47and onward is awesome. I think this is a great use of imitative counterpoint -and you do it very well here. Bravo. This section almost makes the preceding moments seem more prelude-like. Was that intentional? The triplets at measure 25 really mess with me. They seem so remote from the surrounding landscape. Almost jarring in nature. Was that your intent? The return of the simple material from the opening, at the end, is a nice touch. All in all, I love this work. I often veer away from works that sound like this (since they usually all sound alike) -but you've done an awesome job in keeping my attention. Bravo. maestrowick
YES!!!! WELCOME BACK TO TONALITY! :) I love it @Monarcheon. Write more. Funny thing is, my piano piece I put up is atonalish. Not writing anymore though..BWHAHAHAH!!! Bravissimo!
Achromatism
pretty lovely. it seemed as if it'd be primarily a calm piece, but it gradually progressed into something more... weighty? ...and as it slowly progressed, it really grew on me. it seemed as if it progresses with you, even, in a very natural sort of way. so, ehm, yeah. incredibly satisfying. would love to see more like this. Monarcheon
Thank you, everyone! On 3/15/2020 at 7:02 PM, jawoodruff said: The triplets at measure 25 really mess with me. I think the idea was that the momentum into 26 would be super high only for the bass note to be displaced slowing it back down again. Out of context, I do agree it sounds a little out of place. 16 hours ago, maestrowick said: YES!!!!
