Some classical pieces with strong jazz influences: 4 pieces for sax quartet.

I'm making the video start with the last piece on purpose, because it's the one I like best, and the opening prelude will probably bore people too soon.

Score and parts can be seen here: https://albertdelaf.com/op-15-four-pieces-for-saxophone-quartet/

I really liked the final piece! Of course, I listened to it first because of the video... I thought it was really exciting and creative, and despite the harmonic complexity, it's very accessible. I'll listen to the rest of them a bit later. Thanks for posting!

Thanks Theodore! Glad you enjoyed, and I'm flattered coming from you.

I can honestly say that this is one of the most exciting, engaging, interesting pieces that I have ever heard on this forum! Are there any professional or university/conservatoire quartets near you? Deserves a live performance.

Congratulations and thank you for sharing!

I love this!!

I got to listen to the rest of the movements. The Fugue is really cool! I think its my favorite part besides the Rondo. The Prelude seems to be an interesting mix of Jazz, Baroque, and a bit of Romanticism, though it's very brief. I don't have much to say about the Scherzo (they're not really my thing), but I can tell you knew exactly what you wanted out of it, and it sounds very consistent in character, so I applaud you for that. The Waltz reminds me of Gershwin, it's probably the one that makes me think of Jazz the most (personally speaking), though it has some post-romantic moments too. I liked it a lot!

Thanks for posting! These were a lot of fun to listen to! 🙂
