Computer Programmer needed for Music Jotter

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have to start thinking about building a small team for Music Jotter in case this project gets funded.  So far I've built a waiting list of around 5000 people who are interested in this product in some way.  If Music Jotter does get funded, I need to add a computer programmer on payroll by May or June of 2022.  I'd rather start searching for help in this forum before I go beyond this community (such as LinkedIn).  I'm going to also link this post from my Facebook Group.  The reason why I am looking now, is because I have to move fast just in case this project moves forward at full force this year.  If the project doesn't get funded, I will be very clear about this, and make an announcement.  But so far it is looking like there is enough interest, and counting.

If you want to connect with me on Discord and message me privately, my name is chopin on our Music Jotter Discord Server.  Be sure to sign up so you can communicate with me there.

This position would be perfect for the following people:

  • People tired of the typical corporate workplace environment and looking for something new
  • People who love music, and would love to take part of helping me build a business from the ground up
  • College student (for part time work)
  • Maybe you want to retire, but wish to make a little extra money
  • You believe in this mission and love this product

The programming language I am using is Javascript interfaced with Node.  I also am using frontend Javascript with jQuery and ajax.  I'd need help with the following:

  • Adding new features (musicXML, music scrubbing, synth playback)
  • Bug and performance testing
  • Building functional or unit tests where applicable
  • MySQL, Electron Framework and Javascript / typescript technologies
    • Help with converting to standalone desktop copy

It is ok if you don't know Electron or Node.  I care more about your confidence in understanding and learning these technologies.  I also care more about your "core" understanding of computer programming concepts, and your ability to help improve processes and code.

Music Jotter will be released, incrementally.  This way, the community on Kickstarter (this is how I plan to fund MJ), will continuously receive updates.  So if you are excited about the prospect of a new software and you feel you qualify for the above, please post in this thread or message me on Discord.  Help me make Music Jotter become a reality.

Hi,

I would be interested in something like this. I am currently a college student in a CS program and wouldn’t mind a part-time job on the side. I have not actually worked with JavaScript, but I have worked with C#, C++ and C and I also have some TypeScript and XML familiarity. I view myself as a quick learner so I don’t think I would have huge problems understanding JavaScript considering my baggage.

All in all, this seems to be an interesting project for someone who has interest in both music composition and programming. I find that the two have quite a bit in common. Therefore, I would love to discuss this project in more detail!
