(Soundtrack) The OzSmith - Stage 000 - "The Copper Drain"

Featured Replies

This is my first attempt at creating the 'feel' for an upcomming console game called "The OzSmith" - a very fast paced, very frantic plateform game set during a 'fairy-tale industrial revolution/WW2' parrallel type universe. The gameplay is based almost entirely off the game's physics engine.

The look of the game so far is very....wierd, so the music should compliment it by being equally as weird. The game should also be fast paced so it should also have a lot of energy. This song is a major landmark for where I intend to go from here with the soundtrack, but it is still very much an experimental piece. The song does not belong to any stage - it encompasses the following genres: Symphonic(film music)/Ambience/SwingJazz/Electronica/Metal(almost).

Putfile - The Copper Drain

Hahaha, this was a funny one.

I really liked the style mash you've got going here, it's just modern film jazz. It reminded me a lot of the soundtracks to Monkey Island and Grim Fandango. I'm curious to know what sound libraries you used to put together such an interesting combination of sounds.

Musically speaking, it's coherent but very strange, as you intended. I think that, according to the description you provided of the game, this track should work beautifully.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of this soundtrack, well done! ;)

This piece has been judged by three reviewers not to be a major work, primarily because it is short (2:41). Therefore, moving to Incidental Music and Soundtracks.

Thanks Marius! I'm still trying to experiment with some more/other sounds for the soundtrack. I'll have some more of this stuff a little while later. For the sample libraries, I'm using Garritan Jazz and Big Band, EWQLSO, and a bunch of weird vintage synths.

I should have known that this should be in the incedental music section - probably could have saved me some trouble if I put it there in the first place. Ah, well. Glad you enjoyed it.

whoa lots of cool stuff there eh? Jazz.. (deep sigh) Classic. Good Work! I really much enjoyed listenning to it. Thanks for sharing David. ;)

Awesome dude!

Live it, perfect as a soundtrack. The theme is perfect. The trumpets, everything. the feeling.

WONDERFUL. best song I've listened to for some time.

Great Jazz/Bluesy experimental stuff! It fits perfectly with the game's purpose. Good work!

Love it. Very big band-ish. Interesting concept for video game music.

I loved this. Very nice and jazzy and surely strange. It kind of reminds me of Grim Fandago too

 Wow, thanks guys - I'm glad you appreciate the music for this game. Eventually I'm going to get around to posting screens/concept art to show you in more detail what this game is about exactly.
