June 9, 201114 yr In every redneck sense of the word. ... Also, accordion? Never thought of that one. I don't know how to write for it much less play it. Maybe it'd be cool to... learn some things about it!
June 9, 201114 yr Oh the Bandoneon!! sounds great but the buttons are like organ pipes, C in center then B to left A to right G to B's left F to A's right etc, must be quite confusing that board
June 9, 201114 yr Always an interesting question! My wish would be to be able to play the Cello, closely followed by the Japanese Shamisen, and then...well, the list is pretty endless actually :D I wonder what the biggest factor is that draws everyone to the instruments they wish they could play? Obviously how the instrument sounds is er pretty important(!), but I'm pretty sure there are many instruments I'd buy solely based on how amazing they look!
June 11, 201114 yr How they look? I don't think I'd care if it was an ugly thing as long as I liked the sound....
June 12, 201114 yr How they look? I don't think I'd care if it was an ugly thing as long as I liked the sound.... Oh I completely agree. If I like the sound of an instrument how it looks is definitely not so important...BUT when the other way round applies (looks beautiful but doesn't sound so good) I think I would find myself tempted...Wouldn't you? Bearing in mind all possible financial issues aside of course! Note: When I say 'doesn't sound so good' I'm talking about not sounding good because of maybe faulty manufacturing/bad design (e.g. an acoustic guitar made with very cheap wood) or not sounding good due to personal taste, which is obviously quite subjective.
June 12, 201114 yr BUT when the other way round applies (looks beautiful but doesn't sound so good) I think I would find myself tempted...Wouldn't you? Bearing in mind all possible financial issues aside of course! No, I don't think so. I mean, I'm 12 so I myself could not buy an instrument in the first place, but I don't think I'd be tempted for a pretty instrument if it sounded like a dying duck on a cow farm. haha :P
June 14, 201114 yr I pretend to be able to play drums and guitar, but I really can't. So, I'd have to answer the question with those two, plus tuba.
June 15, 201114 yr And besides how it looks or how it sounds there's the what it feels to play it, The Elec. Bass may not look amazing, may not have a superb timbre, but I love the act of playing it, I do enjoy it.
June 29, 201114 yr What instrument do I play? The piano. What instrument do I wish I could play? The piano.
July 5, 201114 yr I seem to be similar to many people here in that I wish I could play a string instrument, preferably the violin. However I haven't started learning a new instrument in many years and I might not be able to tolerate the beginning learning process without a ton of time on my hands, which I lack at the moment.
July 5, 201114 yr I play cello, pipe organ, a little guitar, and sing at the moment. I want to learn viola, horn and bassoon.
July 5, 201114 yr I wish I could play any string instrument. I listen to a lot of songs with them and it just really makes want to play them even more
July 11, 201114 yr If you see in your examn the question "What's the Instrument of Happiness ?" well no need to scratch your head, the answer is "Glockenspiel".
August 6, 201114 yr I wanna learn to play the accordion, banjo, harp and a whole bunch of other folk instruments so I can write classical pieces for them! Epic Win!
August 7, 201114 yr If I could play my choice of instrument incredibly well... I would either choose baritone or french horn. They are what brings a concert band its awesome power. Due to my clef lip, I'm doomed to play clarinet (my second choice) Dude. You're a cleftie?? ME TOO. **creepy internet hug from a complete stranger who may or may not be a 40 year old man living in his mom's basement** I played trumpet for several years til my last surgery, then had to switch to baritone because it's much easier to create a buzz. Why, may I ask, can't you play brass?
August 8, 201114 yr surgery? Graham, don't do those questions in here, go to the "Life with Liz" thread in Off-topic - Journals I'd like to have a TUNED Quena, I have 3 and none of those are well enough tuned to play seriously, and are very difficult to "fix" , but I like the sound.
August 9, 201114 yr I would love to play the viola or cello, but I don't think having another instrument that I 'half-know' how to play would be very good for me. :P For example, I can sort of play the saxophone.
August 10, 201114 yr lol. Viola, if you play violin, is like making a chocolate cake versus a vanilla cake.... not that much difference in the ingredients, but a different outcome. :)
August 11, 201114 yr Clarinet and piano player here, but I wish I could play French horn, bassoon, acoustic guitar, and...really anything from the violin/viola/'cello/bass family.
August 11, 201114 yr Why does everyone want to play strings :P Clarinet, cool! I wish I could play clarinet. I can play oboe, but my clarinet sounds like a dying cow ><
August 12, 201114 yr Why does everyone want to play strings :P Clarinet, cool! I wish I could play clarinet. I can play oboe, but my clarinet sounds like a dying cow >< I can 'sort of' play the clarinet.
