Attn Mike: PDF file upload allowance.

Featured Replies

Mike, is it possible to set the maximum allowable upload for pdf file to equal the remaining attachment space allowance for a member?

I wanted to upload a score today and even with a low quality pdf it was almost double the set allowance for pdfs. I didn't try to load it.

The piece of music might benefit by posting a score to confirm that what's heard is (very nearly) what was intended (allowing for minor discrepancies)

Thanks.

M

I was actually going to mention this a while back too; good call Montpellier. :P

I was thinking about that too...

How about small zip files?

Also, I'd like to add that the site does not allow .html files either, which means no Sibelius Scorch files! Grr. :)

The limit for PDF files has been raised to 3 MB.

Many thanks. That'll help.

We love you, Mike :)

So... no zips?

So... no zips?

I'm afraid not. As zip files can contain files of any extension, it's not secure to allow them to be uploaded. Not all users will be savvy enough to be on the lookout for any viruses etc. hidden within.

Missed this the first time around.

Again, allowing the upload of HTML files presents a potential security risk. For this same reason, we do not allow raw HTML code to be included in posts (then again, neither do 99.99% of other forums).

Sib files can be opened in scorch, can they not?

i'm fairly certain they are.

Yes, if you have Scorch installed with your browser then .sib attachments downloaded from here should display within it as inline content.

By the way, having now actually taken a look at how Sibelius exports Scorch web pages, it seems there would be no point in allowing .htm/.html uploads anyway - all it does is save the .sib file and creates an HTML file in the same directory which references the .sib file so that it can show it within the web page. In a nutshell: even if it were possible to upload HTML files, there'd be no point uploading a Scorch web page, as it wouldn't work without the associated .sib file, which you can't associate it with if it's been uploaded to the forum software.

That's how things seem to be in Sibelius 3, at least. Can't say for sure about 4.

No idea. I always have to open Internet Explorer to read Scorch files.

It's a bit annoying, but then again I do have Sibelius :shifty:

You do get stuff though, like sibeliusmusic where you only get the scorch file though.

Grrr.. n00bz.

You have to download sibelius scorch from here and, when the installer prompts you to do so, select the mozilla firefox plugins folder- this will...... EQUIP THE FIREFOX WITH SCORCH. You better believe it!

when you've installed, try viewing this file with firefox.

yes, that's what i did!
