HoYin Cheung Posted December 21, 2025 Posted December 21, 2025 Dear all, Happy Christmas for all of you! I used common Xmas tunes to create a cute mesh up! I can't remember how many times I wrote a piece for Christmas - but I gonna try sth new this year. A very short and casual piece by blending different genre - Chime playing Flamenco in triplets (3rd and 10th beats are strong beats) Marimba playing Salsa (Doted rhythm) Ukelele - in standard rhythms PDF Salsa and Flamenco 2 Quote
chopin Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 Nice blending of styles, and a fun little catchy tune. Love the animated Santa graphic haha. 2 Quote
Luis Hernández Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 An incredibly interesting brief piece—I'm really hooked. I like the polyrhythm and how well it's put together. I'm not really catching the flamenco rhythm, though (haha... I come from the land of flamenco, so forgive me!). 2 Quote
Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 Hi @HoYin Cheung! It sounds a lot like the interlocking structure of Gamelan but this time with chimes and marimba haha. Nice polyrhythm as well. Thx for sharing! Henry 1 Quote
Wieland Handke Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 Another piece reminiscent of a music box or carousel at a Christmas market! However, instead of pins on a rotating disc plucking the tuned teeth of a steel comb, it features a well-crafted score so that a visually trained person can follow the musical progression—provided they are not distracted by Santa Claus whirling around. 2 Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Hi again @HoYin Cheung I find reviewing pieces like this very strange because I can hear some themes in this that sound familiar and I can't be sure if it's because your using pre-existing Christmas Carol themes or if you're varying something/mashing it up or if it's just a slight allusion to other themes. So I don't know which aspects of the composition are your own original work and how much is taken from other pieces. I have done 3 Christmas Mash-up's this year myself and I try to give the listener clues letting them know what to listen for and which Christmas Carols I'm using in my renditions. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year! 1 Quote
