I would like to get an idea of this site's age group. The main goal is to actually see the ratio of how many "Young Composers" we actually have, compared to older members.

So please help me out by telling us your age. I would appreciate it if you would not only answer the poll, but also state your exact age in the discussion. I especially want the veteran Young Composers members to participate in this thread. Thank you!

  • Wow, Tina, welcome to YC, I hope you find this place nice and useful to you, if any trouble let me know. (I think she's the youngest member ever signed up :P )

    29 now.... on May 5th, I turn 30 :(

Hmm...this is sensitive for me.

Oh well...I'm not sure I care about the possible repercussions anymore. Most people know I'm a lot older. What most don't know is that I'm almost as old as their parents.

I'm 43. I used to fudge my age by several years on the old site because early on there were people there - long gone - who made a stink about anyone older than 20 being on the site. Typical - they posted once or twice to raise a fuss about something and never came back.

There is a freedom in being totally open about this, and everything else.

Don't feel threatened because of the site's title. I acutally am trying to think of ways to encourage older people to join despite the title Young Composers, since older members can certainly help guide the younger members. I think I am one of the older members of the board as well, so let's not feel bad about it :)

So Lee, you now know the true meaning of life, the universe and everything, I assume.

I am 17. That seems to be the norm, although I try not to attack like the other composers my age. TEACH ME LEE TEACH ME!

I'm 15.

So Lee, you now know the true meaning of life, the universe and everything, I assume.

* laughs * Yeah, tell us already!

I'm eighteen.

I wish I did. It would make life so much easier. Rather, the older I get, the more sure I am that I will never understand any of that.

I'm 12, 13 on February... :D

Actually, I haven't begun composing yet :) but I've analysed a LOT of scores and I'm looking for another newbie to "join" me :)

Well, looks like I'm the youngest.

Yaaaay I'm the only one my age! Wooo!

I turned 19 almost 2 months ago. I was hesitant to click on 'teenager' on the poll, since I'm nearly 20.

Yay, another British Columbian!

Vancouver is lovely. Now that I'm at college in the States, I really miss it. Ah well; I asked for it. * laughs *
