Yes indeed, the violin part was melancholic, but I find the piano part to be particularly interesting as it balances the melancholy of the violin.

Very melancholically beautiful... a sense of hopelessness yet also acceptance, calm and even hope!

That sounds like an exciting project! Original melodies can be elusive, but I'm sure yours will shine through with your unique voice as a composer. Keep up the great work!

The clarinet and piano complements one another very well, whether it is the give and take, question or answer, or use of chords and arpeggios for the piano, or runs in the melodies for the Clarinet. the feeling of general ease is well-balanced with the slightly more mysterious phrases. This works nicely as both as a piece in itself, a background music piece or even a programmatic piece. Have you thought of modulating this to A maj or any other key for contrasts?

I found another pop song that never hits the tonic! It's very well known and cycles through the same four chords throughout the whole song LoL! I also noticed that a lot of these songs that I'm posting have very weak harmonic motion. The chords are as follows: ii | IV | vi | V | (in A major) Ultimate Guitar Tab.com claims that this song is in B minor because it starts on the B minor chord - but if so then the song would be considered in Dorian mode - but to me it doesn't sound like it's in Dorian - it sounds like the D major chord in the second bar is definitely a sub-dominant.

Hey there! Today I submit my latest work. I'm not composing much lately but I managed to come up with this being somehow a reflection of thinking about the happy moments lately. It has some similarity with that highly expressive Rachmaninov style, that somehow represent for me really well this type of feelings. I hope you like it!

Have just updated my score for this one. Removed some glaring errors, and added more expression marks.

I think some of the writing here could be produced with good effect using woodwinds, real woodwinds. These sounds don’t do the writing any favors.

It yields a nice unpredictable surreal effect. There is also the occasional allusion to Impressionism. And at times a layering of more than one, sort of, “style.”

I've corrected a few things, done some minor and medium 🙂 changes, mostly in the development and recapitulation. Maybe needs a short coda? Any suggestions super welcome! Ciao! triopf1.mp3

I'm not usually doing a lot of synth things. So wanted to play around in that field a bit. Aiming to just keep trying different things and figuring out to capture the ideas and themes that I have. It's a fun challenge, but I do want to further my knowledge in theory. I like the idea of doubling at the end. I'll play around with that! I do post things to YouTube occasionally. That's here. Then also pieces I'm workshopping over on Soundcloud. Then I actually made a new post over in the Orchestral and Large Ensemble forum last night!

Moved this to Composers HQ so that there's more visibility. While I do agree AI can be a good thing, it's just a tool. I've always said this...a 2 year old is smarter than AI. The reason? Because a 2 year old has actual intelligence, and can make decisions based on external stimuli. Whereas, AI is not intelligence, it's a misnomer. I would challenge an AI to create a melody at the Tchaikovsky level. The AI may create music that sounds like Tchaikovsky, but just the harmonies perhaps. This is largely because harmony is more of the mathematical aspect of music, whereas melody or structure is the creative aspect of music. Anything to do with creativity, is something AI wouldn't handle that well. It may simulate creativity, but it will never actually execute something on its own.

Hi, @Layne 🙂 Really imaginative piece! I was immediately hooked on the delicious harmonies and I am even more impressed if you're relying more on intuition than theory knowledge. I didn't find the chord voicings too sparse personally -- I think they work well in this style of music, and they were fairly consistent throughout the piece which I again think is no problem in such a short work. If you still wanted to thicken the texture at all, I wonder how it would sound at the end of you doubled the lead in octaves. It might be a nice strong last impression to leave the listeners with; I have heard it done for effect at the end of some short pieces -- just an idea. Well done! And, that's awesome that you played the cello for a few years. I played throughout my high school years. Would love to get familiar with more of your music! Have a lovely day, Gwen

Thanks for your opinion! That's a fact, that AI can't invent or figure out anything. It can generate things based on its training set. If John Williams or Karl Bryullov don't consent, the AI music-generator algorithms just can't use their stuff. If an AI algorithm creates something extraordinary that would be just a coincidence, and probably unrepeatable, but a human can invent something, and use it consciously. However, I'm a quiet skeptic about your standpoint, that AI will lead us a new age that talentless idiots won't be able to spread their shi*t. Maybe it will be more interesting because the stupidity of mankind is not replicable by an AI.
