  1. Thank you Maarten, I'm glad you liked it. You're right about the sound quality of Lucia, the mixing is not very good. I'm using Sibelius, but I really don't know much about the mixing side of the program, I'll have to experiment. The problem is that it sounds fine when I listen directly to it in Sibelius, but then during the exportation of the file and then the conversion of the file into an mp3, the sound quality changes quite a lot. As for the clarity of the score in La Marioneta, I do need to clear things up, you're right. It tends to wander through a few key changes and I haven't done a good job with the accidentals. The way I write is to sit at the piano and play into the program and so mostly the result is what the program used to interpret my playing, but it's good practice to go back and check all those details. Thanks again Regards Mark
  2. Great start! It seems to me that perhaps too much is happening at once in your song, as if you felt you had to cram every type of effect into that two minutes. Try adding in layers gradually, building it up over time. Start with one or two instruments, then add more as the song progresses, so that is ends with a bang. If you add in too much too early, you "shoot your bolt" too soon, and all that noise actually begins to sound monotonous because it looses its magic. Could you also add a bridge? Grant Kirkhope loves to use wacky chords to start off a bridge. For example, in the beach/pirate level of Banjo Kazooie, the music starts in C major, but the bridge is in F sharp. It is a clear departure from the main melody and lets you know you're in a new place. Try adding in such a departure. It will make the return to your main theme that much sweeter.
  3. A suite made up of sketches 58, 62, and 78. I like this better than the first, personally, since I actually studied this type of music before these sketches, instead of mindlessly writing what I thought this type of music was. Enjoy!
