  2. hi been working on this piece for a month now, almost straight after "Your Reality," and around the release of Deltarune's Chapter 3+4. i was super inspired by the new osts so i decided to make a "theme and variations" piece from one of them. you could see it as the next step in my "actually learning orchestration journey," after making an arrangement, i guess this time (unlike the previous variations piece), i've divided the variations into three parts. the piece is halfway done in DAW, so i've started to make the score. also, when i do so, i usually polish and look for parts that I can optimize at the same time. the score currently contains only the introduction and the theme since that's the only progress that I've made with scoring. instrumentation : 3(III=pic).3(III=corA).3(III=bc).2 - 4.3.3.1 - timp.perc:glsp/xyl/2toms/sus.cymb/cyms/tgl/tamb - strings lemme know what ya think and feedbacks are always appreciated! 3. Hi everyone! This is my first piece for full symphony orchestra, first post, (and my first "completed" composition: a lot of firsts), and I'm definitely still learning how to orchestrate better, create nicer textures, and pace my compositions/develop melodies (all for fun, I just like listening to music and playing a little bit haha, so I don't have any formal composition background). This piece was inspired by various Romantic composers (with quotes from my 3 favorite symphonies--one is really obvious but I'm interested to see if others will recognize the snippets I tried to include) and includes two central themes. I'm open to all the advice I can get! Thanks for your time! PS. my score is really chaotic and I still need to clean up all the accidentals and stuff.

  4. Here is the Hallowed Knight's Journey, and where it's at in it's current state. I have not made changes to this score in over 2 months now, as I feel there isn't much more to do with this project, as it sits. The playback has been mastered to the fullest extent that I am capable of, and scoring has been corrected for mistakes, and legibility. Hope you all enjoy it as it is now. 5. All of this music is copyright free, and was for a scrapped RPG game. @PeterthePapercomPoser I think you might like "Cerulean forest" from 3:25 to to 5:06

  6. The atmosphere is ripe. I cannot say no to bells. I expect further developments for the better as suggested above.

  7. Hey everyone! My name is Vlad, and in my free time, I dabble in composing what I like to call "pseudo-academic" music. I have absolutely no formal music education—just countless hours spent listening to classical works. I’d love to share my Symphonic Suite from Freyja - Vanadis, a piece heavily inspired by Sibelius and Wagner.

  8. I really like when the intimate aspect of Debussy is the essential component. No the bloated thing in the recent famous orchestrations just mentioned above. Bravo!

  9. Getting back into composition from a long hiatus, I decided to orchestrate a piano piece by Claude Debussy. The piece is a movement from his piano suite Estampes titled La Soireé dans Granade (Evening in Granada). I'm still not too familiar with Debussy's piano music as a whole, but this suite definitely piqued my interest in that genre. I wasn't aware at the time, but several high profiled figures have orchestrated this movement (and other movements of the suite), and I did avoid listening to them so I don't copy them. Link to the original piano composition: The audio quality is a little meh...this is the last piece I wrote before I switched out of Finale/Garritan to Dorico/NotePerformer. Any feedback is appreciated!

  10. im making one (kinda) based off undertale/deltarune. I'm making a (also kinda) neon city world RPG. the plot twist is that the player is just a vessel and you must defeat your creator as a final bossfight (overwhelmed being the song, though i probably will remix it) im not done with the story yet.

  11. Very inspirational and upbeat. The perfect tune for an adventure or RPG overworld. Loosely reminds me of the musical style of Secret of Mana, which had great music btw.

  13. Hi @ferrum.wav! Nice reorchestration for the wip1, nice build up at the beginning. Nice cor anglais/oboe(?) at the 0:40 passage, and also the underlying clarinet! Like how you keep the opening string accompaniment underneath to provide motions to the variation too, also the drum is slowly reintroduced at the end. You don't waste any of those interesting elements even with just a small time span. Nice job! Henry

  14. Hi @Churchcantor! This one doesn't sound like a Waltz for me without the waltz rhythm haha. The chords are completely playable with my big hands haha. Some chords with more than an octave like in b.16 can be difficult for piano players with smaller hands though. For me persoally this waltz is a bit too long overall, maybe I will cut those returns of the A sections to just a few phrases instead of quoting the whole passage. Thx for sharing! Henry

  15. Although microtonal, this piece was intended to be a little more palatable harmonically. I use 1/6th and 1/3rd tones so I guess technically it's 36 tet. The microtonal adjustments were only applied to the underlying harmony rather than the melodic voices so it could also be considered poly-microtonal (12 tet and 36 tet together). But I consider the microtonality in this to be really "lite", but let me know what you think! I also kinda was thinking of this as a VGM track rather than a concert-piece although I guess it didn't really end up that way. I'd appreciate any of your suggestions, comments, critiques or just observations. Thanks for listening! Edit: I've included a version of the piece with syntonic commas instead of 1/3rd and 1/6th flats/sharps. This should better approximate justly tuned 3rds in this piece. Also - my comments about the piece being in 36tet no longer apply in this version (#2).

  16. Hey Peter, I always told you I have no interest in microtones at this stage of my life, but I really find this one more accessible with less apparent usage of microtones, either putting it in the accompaniment or just a bit of taste of it in the melodic part after the tonic key is established. The microtone creates the mood of repose well-living between conscious and unconscious, thus tone to microtone! Henry

  17. Hi to all! Here is my latest composition based on an extrasolar planet that may support life. The previous ones were "Tau Ceti" and "Iota Draconis (The Dragon's Quest)". Am planning to combine these into a symphony or suite eventually. The score is designed for midi playback, hence the strange note lengths and dynamics. Think I probably need to allow more time for winds and brass to breathe? Also my bass-line in the celli and doublebass is really boring: so perhaps I should change it? Looking for some feedback on how realistic the orchestra sounds, and what further steps I can take to improve this? I used MuseStrings and MuseWoodwinds with Berlin Brass. Haven't done any stereo panning yet. Think I may have pushed the dynamics too high in the climax at the end, as it sounds like it's clipping to me.
