  1. Life is more simple when we blame others isn't it ? it's not about how "popular" something is, that means nothing, we can decide ourselves if we like something or not without asking the masses.
  2. You shouldn't generalize like that. If this is your opinion it's fine but speak only for yourself, you can't possibly know about 99% of composers :P
  3. I wasn't sure if it's possible, I was just exploring the possibilities of the software. I noticed it has an option to "record" and I was trying to do so instead of playing note by note, play along with the metronome or something, and then edit the resulting notation, something like that is possible but the notation gets all messed up because of the late response to the midi keyboard : P So what I'm looking for is precisely the option to change the audio controller driver, because I'm assuming the Windows primary one is set as default, and the MIDI keyboard only works properly with ASIO driver. It doesn't seem to have that option to configure, do you know if it does somewhere? I'm guessing it doesn't because it's not really designed to perform music like you say, but just wanted to be sure. Thank you for your help and thank you Austenite for your good wishes : P
  4. Well, first of all, I think I should make it sounds less monotonous and better organized somehow, play different notes in the two note ostinato at some point, creating a melody, also give the song enough time to progress, with a proper measure, and then make a change in the rhythm perhaps, not harsh but subtle, as a variation. And I think it can be developed from those same two chords it already has, not sure about that though.
  5. I listened and looked at the sheet. I think what makes this piece special is how subtle it introduces you to the atmosphere. The beats in the F clef that even though are almost the same in the whole song, don't feel boring at all because of the way the chords change following the melody. And as well as the melody, the beats don't change much but everything develops just as it has to, with the variations and the right divisions of each passage, giving enough time for the listener to grasp it, especially the main part of the piece. It's really a good reference for me, because most of what I noticed here are elements that my music require...
  6. After a lot of struggle with Sibelius (never used it before and never notate a song before) here it is. Sorry if it's a bit messy heh. Rain.pdf
  7. I've been trying to configure my MIDI keyboard in Sibelius 7, but I'm not sure how to configure it properly. It works okay but it has a slow response when I play the notes, with the ASIO drivers running, that shouldn't happen because I use ASIO as well in FL studio and the response is perfect, so, do you have any idea on how to fix this ? or if it can be fixed or improved somehow to begin with ? And another question, I just started using it and I would like to know if it's possible to add an East West Vst instrument into Sibelius sound library, and how ?? Thank you
  8. Makes sense what you say about notation. Okay, I will notate that composition and then upload it here. Thanks!
  9. Greetings maestrowick, thank you for your time first of all. I appreciate it. To be honest I'm not sure where to start from. As you might know I don't have a lot of knowledge when it comes to theory. I know some basics from music lessons I took years ago (piano), but a lot of important subjects were skipped, that I'm learning today. Some subjects of my interest that I like to start with are chord progressions, harmony, structures (the basics), composition in general, and also I don't write down my music, I installed Sibelius recently though, because I want to, some day I would like to play along with a string quartet or something, and I would like to be able to write down everything for them, so, I'm also interested in basic orchestration. I think it's better if you judge for yourself what guidance I require first, so here's an example of my current way to make music http://www.youngcomposers.com/?app=downloads&module=downloads&controller=view&id=1314
  10. Michael Giacchino, Ennio Morricone and Joe Hisaishi!
  11. Thanks for all the information! I appreciate it. My music theory level is quite poor at the moment, so I have to start with other basic books first so I can understand well. Also that I'm not aiming to write classical music, so the books that go deeper into the subject of classical forms are not a priority for me because I want to do something else, but I'll definitely check out later the harmony ones, and the ones that can apply to all forms of music in general. Thanks again :) Brilliant idea! quite helpful tip Thank you! this is very helpful for me, my level in music theory is quite poor and it's not my intention to go deep into classical forms as I mentioned above, so I'll start from the beginning but will have most of the other books you mentioned in mind when I reach a better level, already have the first one to start with :P The music I do is basically Minimalism combined with Ambient, as in a calm piano with some atmospheres of strings, chorus, glockenspiel, I just wanted to make the songs better when it comes to structures and forms, because so far it's mostly based on emotions.
  12. Hello everyone, I need some help and/or recommended resources/links when it comes to the topics mentioned above, thank you for your time! =)
