Xabejrml - A piece for Concert Band

Featured Replies

Yes, I AM posting more music. Another piece for Concert Band, however, it's a serious piece. It took me about three weeks.

I felt like starting something that was catchy, and I started with a cute melody. It soon turns into a slower flowing version of the same melody, then it goes fast again, and eventually I use 7/8 time, because I love it. It's fun to see what you can do with one silly melody.

I do know the intro needs work, and the transition from the first section to the slower section in the middle.

Oh right, the name. Xabejrml. It doesn't mean anything, don't even ask.

Enjoy.

WOOT! Ok. Heres what we get..

-ok, I love the theme. it makes me happy. i wanna jump and sing. good one.

-oohh! love this bit (.33-.44) its really nice haha.

-mm like the change at 55. its very..piratey :D

-you know already how much I like the slow section. Which I do. alot. i find it to be very moving :)

-ok. 3.00 is really good. i like those chords haha...

-the building is great. and then how it drops away...

-WOOT FOR 4 MINUTES! back to happy..andandand XD THIS BIT SOUNDS LIKE A NEWS THEME XD 4:25 -- haha. I love it:P

-But I find the ending to be somewhat..not as exciting as it should be. I feel you should build it up, up and up, then end with a large almighty crash :D

I enjoyed it, but I feel the ending could do with some fixing up.JUSTMYOPPIONTHOUGH!

Adore your theme it is so damn catchy

Like the contrast [0129] very nicely done, the piece becomes sweet and vulnerable :)

0300 yet again very nice :)

although after that it take a bit too long time before the fast theme comes back though. One just falls asleep in the slow chordic progression, although one gets awoken just ad the verge when sleep starts to grip :)

And I agree with Matt, a more end-like ending(lol) would fit better.

I couldn't say it any better so

I've always been a concert band fanatic and now isn't any different. Haha. I loved your theme, really catchy as all the others have said. Umm. Minor things, the alto clarinet part on my computer is up in the 9 - 10 leger line section. I don't know how that happened it just did. Also I was slightly dissapointed that there were no bassoons included. I would have also liked to see the lower brass have a more active role. I am a brass player that specialises in euphonium and am always dissapointed when I have a note on the downbeat then the rest of the bar rest so it can repeat.

Brass players might hurt you.

But, other than that, I thought it was really well done

The slow section wasn't the best, to me. And 3:00 was good when the instruments were reintroduced. Loved the rolls before the start of the fast theme for the second time. Then came the 7/8 which blew me away. I absolutely loved that part. It was the best section in the whole piece, IMO. Gotta use some 7/8 myself sometime.

And yeah work on the ending. Apart from that, well done.

  • 2 weeks later...

I would like to see a score for this... MIDI makes me insane. :)

I am still recovering from a bad experience with a concert band, but I loved the slow section, liked the way you variated your tune, and hate the ending.

Very good.
