Testing the Login Integration

Featured Replies

As you know, we have been having trouble with login integration in the past. We are currently fixing all the issues. Please test the login integration by logging in through the homepage. When you log in, please test the following:

1. Change your password, see if login still works

2. Reset your password, see if login still works

Look for the following problems:

1. Error mismatch.

2. Any red box that pops up.

3. If you cannot log in period.

I really need everyone to test thoroughly, because I will be sending out a mass email once we verify the login works, to bring our community back. In the event you cannot login after testing, please log back in through here with your original password.

Just tested it, seems to work! No error messages or anything.

I get a red loading box at the top of the screen when I switch pages (I'm using Firefox and things at YC are running very slow right now).

If I go to the top right of the screen and click on my name I get a dropdown menu. I know this has been around for a while. But why is it that when I click on My Settings in the menu the available options do not match what I get when going to youngcomposers.com? And my profiles and profile options vary. The varying options and different ways to access the options are very confusing. Also why isn't youngcomposers.com simply the forum, or why doesn't it redirect you to the forum?

Changing passwords gives me a nice bright green box that assures me everything is ok.

I also see an obnoxious red box flash at the top of my screen whenever someone publishes something in the shoutbox.

I'm running Firefox as well and get the Redbox loading error as well. This could be a cross-platform issue if IE/Safari users aren't getting this error.

The red "Loading..." box is perfectly normal - it informs you that the page is not done loading. For me I can miss it with the blink of an eye, but I suppose if you are experiencing slow page loads it shows itself a while longer. It's only on the forum as it's a feature of IPB. It doesn't accomplish much, would you like if I simply removed it? Let me know.

Are you confused by the fact that the network and forum each have their own individual settings? If so, I'll add that to the requests, the developers might be able to integrate all the settings and options controls into one location.

Why isn't youngcomposers.com simply the forum? Because the forum is only the discussion aspect of the site. We are three parts: the discussion forum, the wiki, and the network that ties everything together. It wouldn't make much sense to have the forum as the main page, so we have a homepage at youngcomposers.com. Right now it's in its infant stages, so I can understand your confusion and concern. The network should be the focal point of the site and this will be more apparent as we iron out the final bugs - we are pretty close. Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, removal of the red loading box would be nice. And I think it would be an EXCELLENT idea to integrate the settings into one location.

The network will be the focal point over the forum? Hopefully I'll better understand this as the site unfolds.

Are you talking about the red loading box when the shoutbox refreshes, or are you talking about a red box on the network, telling you that there is an error?

Neither. When I was switching pages earlier a red box with "Loading..." in it appeared at the top of my screen. This is unrelated to the shoutbox.

When talking about the red box that flashes quickly and obnoxiously at the top of the screen, then I was referring to the refreshing of the shoutbox. That flash would be a nice thing to have removed if possible.

I use FF3.5 on Linux. Login seems to work fine!

I tried to just now log in via www.youngcomposers.com... and still the bridge does not work for me.

Have you tried resetting your password? After they fixed the bridge choppy had me change mine and it worked for me thereafter.

i'll test it out now.. thanks good sir.

When I tried to log in, the "sign in" link at the top right of the forum page just redirected me to the Home page, where I was logged in. When I clicked to go back to the forum, it would just stay logged out. I found a link to a log in page where I was able to log in to the forum, thankfully. :o
