Hi, I've not posted on here for a while...but i am a London based composer. My name is Dave Graham. I have written a piece for flexible ensemble and am looking for players to record parts at home and email them to me to create a finished work. It is called 23 fragments, and is scored as 23 short phrases, which will be repeated and build up once the recordings are received. The style is minimalist, but hopefully with slightly zingier harmony than most pieces in this kind of style.

The website to get involved is:

23fragments.tk

It's a non-commercial project, so there's no financial goings on here..it's just fun project, and in return for your efforts in recording the parts, you will receive the finished work.

Thanks for your time!

Heckelphone guy... wow. You got me beat. Maybe one day I'll have the musical arsenal you command. What's that thing between the oboe and soprano sax? It's appears a USO - unidentified shiny object. Also... those flutes confuse me. I see a piccolo... something barely larger than a piccolo, a bass flute, and something between C flute and picc... Eb flute? *mind explodes* and IS that a harpsichord... or a piano?

And yes, where DID you get all those things? I like to hear those kinds of stories. XD

Sounds like a contra-alto clarinet to my ears, but somebody *hint hint grumble heckelguy* should verify that.

Hi! I'm Lawrence Luo. I'm an AMATEUR composer, and I'm learning music theory and composition stuff. I live in California, and I play the violin and some piano. While I don't compose for a living, I find it fun and interesting. I write mostly for string quartet and stuff like that.

yay!

Good mornin everybody!

hey I'm Chad "Sir Wick" Hughes. I have been composing for almost 20 years. I'm considered a "romantic!" I'll post some music soon!

Hi,

My name is Jakub. I'm currently studying Music Tech in UK and I am fairly fresh to composition. Hopefully I will speed up the process of learning with your help guys ;)

Hey all,

I'm Gabriel from (mostly) sunny California, USA. I have been performing since age 3 and composing since age 12. I am largely self-taught but have studied privately and in a collegiate setting on several occasions. My main interests are film music, musical theatre, and opera. Having studied, composed, and enjoyed film scores for many years, that is perhaps my main area of expertise compositionally, and it informs my style in an eclectic, "popular" vein.

As an instrumentalist, I have studied and performed on piano, bass clarinet, trumpet, and horn. Due to the onset of a degenerative muscle spasticity/neuropathic condition, my fine motor skills began to greatly decrease and thus curtail my playing career to a great extent. In retrospect, this was perhaps a very good thing musically speaking, as it allowed me to focus more fully on my favorite musical pursuits: vocal performance (lyric baritone) and, of course, composition.

Other interests include film (what a surprise), video games, literature, and writing.

I'm glad to be able to stumble across a community of this nature and look forward to exciting creative developments in the years to come.

Hello I'm Steve. I've been playing guitar for 17 years. I'm completely self-taught and when it comes to composing I'm pretty much starting from scratch. I've worked with some notation software like Finale and sequencing software like Reason creating works that some might call music and most will call noise. I'm sure everything I will come up with will be universally hated and called extremely amateur by anyone who knows anything about composing.

and I quote "sounds like a 3rd grade band practice"

Please be gentle......

Hi, I'm 19. I play quite a few instruments and sing. I LOVE to make music.

Hi--

I am a long time classical music lover (25 years), and have the typical 7 years or so of band classes in junion/senior high school (flute). I even took a music theory class at one point. I taught myself enough piano and guitar to play popular sheet music, but struggle with classical, though I can follow a score and play individual lines if pressed.

I recently discovered the program Musescore, and was amazed at what it could do. I'd like to work with the program to learn more about composition and music theory, as well as enhance my enjoyment of music.

I'm currently reading theory, harmony, and composition, as well as Rosen's work, Sonata Forms. It is all very interesting and I look forward to exploring it all...

Anything you create is music!

Don't worry. With the exception of a few egotistic individuals, everyone here is eager to help you - we're all about improvement and learning here.

Hi. I'm Christopher, I'm 14. I have been playing violin for 5 years, with no private lessons. I taught myself cello, viola, string bass, bass guitar, guitar, and piano, and I swear I did not make any of that up. I am first chair, second violin in my school's chamber orchestra, which is predominantly juniors and seniors.

Hi All!

My name is Tommaso (Tommy) Ermolli. I am from Padova, north-eastern Italy (near Venice). I am currently 20 and play guitar.

From mid April to mid July I'll be studying at the Institute of Contemporary Music and Performance in London.

I suddenly realized that I started listening to tons of soundtracks and piano music... I'd really like to go deeper into this kind of music and try to compose something :)

Hey everyone! My name is Peter.

I play keyboards and drums, I play in two bands, a pop-rock cover band, and an author stuff band in which I compose, play keyboards and drums.

I'm 21, music is in my blood, I'm a big fan of film music and I would like to compose for films one day.

Have a nice day, cheers!

Hello everyone that loves music as it is!

I randomly came over this nice web-site after searching the web to find out how to notate the maracas in sibelius 4. I'm David and I began composing when I turned 17. Now I'm 22 and are studying this fine art. The best art of all :) Living in Norway I try to find time to advance my skills.

Appreciate this opportunity!

Thankue!

Welcome everyone!

Hey folks!

Just found this forum thanks to a friend. Anyway, I'm a college student in my freshman year studying music education. I'm a trombone/baritone player. I love writing music and I hope this website aids me in my writing.

What college?

Hey, my name is Matt. I'm 19 and I go to East Carolina University

I found this site and I thought it was super awesome that there's an actual go-to place to share compositions with other people. I think that's pretty groovy.

As for a back-story, when I started college last semester, I was going to be a Music Ed./Vocal Performance major, but it was always kind of my dream to be a song writer. I didn't go for it though because I was kind of afraid of not getting and job and all sorts of insecurities.

During one of our school of music's general recitals, though, I heard a couple pieces from someone who was a student, and it was stunning. When I found out that it was actually one of the singers I had met, it kind of inspired me to finally go for it.
