My name is Patrick and I have been composing music since I was 5. I am currently a sophomore in high school, principle cellist in Pike Symphony Orchestra, and in Pike Encores show choir. I started piano at the age of 3 but not really that good at it. I really want to go in to both Symphonic and Choral Conducting. I'm also a really nice guy and if anyone wants to talk, just add me on facebook or email me and put Young Composers in the subject box.

Cheers!

Patrick Pauloski

Hello every one. My name is Mark Kreider and Im a freshman at Newton High School. I've played piano since I was 5 and I really enjoy composing - I'm especially interested choral music.

Oh, also - it's probably very self-explanetory - but how do I post a song?

how do I post a song?
If you're going to submit a work, song whatever ....

Open a thread in the suitable section (orchestra, piano etc) then if your are going to upload small files (a pdf, sib, mus, mid etc) you may use the "attachements" to upload into YC, if you're going to upload big files (a 20 min. mp3 for instance) you may go to box.net sign up and then upload your file, set the "share" option and post the link here, members will go there to see/listen your file.

Besides box.net there are more free host you may use ....

I don't remember what exactly did I read when I signed up by first time, but tell me,

Did you find any instructions on how submit a piece in YC while/after registering, ?

if not, I'll tell an Admin to add some quick instructions for new members.

Hi Alex welcome!

I did too study with the Shoenberg's theory of harmony. Though I didn't go further enough with it. I wanted to study the chapter of chromatisms which I imagine it is very intersting.

If you can write what you hear in your head well that's a start. Next would be to carry a little manuscript notebook with and keep ideas for further development.

good luck

Howdy doodles!

I'm Alex Greene from Wisconsin... I improvise on the electric guitar and just started relearning the piano. I'm going to school for biochemistry, but my real passion lies in music and visual art. I've been fervently studying Music theory for the past 6 years or so with the help of Schoenberg's 'Theory of Harmony', listening to all types of music and transcribing it by ear, and just going by my intution.

I feel that I know enough about music theory and that I'm about ready to start the whole creative process of writing down what I feel. Unfortunately that's a lot harder than learning theory. Any suggestions?

Thanks! I don't remember ever seeing anything regarding that. I tried looking, but i guess not in the right places. I will soon upload some things. Thanks again.

Hello everyone,

I'm Rodrigo from Brazil, I'm 28 and I started studying classical guitar at the age of 7, then switched to electrical guitar at 14, then started studying orchestration and composition at the age of 26. I'm the guitarist of the Dream Theater cover band of my city (among other bands). I've uploaded some stuff at my YouTube channel. Noticeably, I have a passion for large orchestras, and I had the opportunity to conduct student orchestras during workshops (I'm always hunting them).

I work as an engineer. Music is my passion and I'm glad to be here.

Oi. I'm Ben. I'm 18, and a Senior at Episcopal Academy outside of Philly, PA. I'm applying to New England Conservatory, Boston Conservatory, Mannes College and others for composition. My favorite composers are Max Richter, Arvo Part, Steve Reich, Johann Johannsson and Olafur Arnalds.

Yo, my name's Winton Yuichiro White. I was born in New York, raised in Japan. After graduating SF Conservatory I have been a freelance musician in San Francisco as a vocalist in the Bay Area of California.

i figure I should check this site out for information on competitions as well hearing some younger composers' works. I've heard some pretty impressive pieces simply by browsing through this site.

Nice to meet you all here!

Hi, I play the violin.

Hi, im Frans, I play the piano and have been composing for a while now. I am constrained by my technique on the piano, so I am looking for people willing to play my pieces!

Hi too! =D

I am Chris~

I just arrived in Canada(Richmond) from Germany(Hagen) and try myself on compositions for video games.

Would be really great to make a living with that (even if its just barely)

My previous stuff can be found at Calined - Music

So i hope i find some advices or even some people i can communicate with about this topic ^^

Hi. My name is John and I'm 19 years old. I'm at my second year of Music at The University of Western Ontario studying theory/composition. My favourite composer is Gershwin because he marries classical and jazz into something beautiful. I play the piano and saxophone.

I want to get into writing for video games. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can start this?

Hey, my name's Liam. I've just gotten into composition in the past year or so. Hoping to go to Berklee in the Fall for Film Scoring.

I'm writing for everything and trying to make up for my late start.
