Hey everyone, I'm Luke. I don't really have any experience with composition, though I have a nice background with theory.

I'm a clarinetist who doubles on bass clarinet, but my favorite musical periods are the baroque and rennaisance. Because of that, I like to think of myself as an enigma. Even I don't know myself.

I enjoy pina coladas and getting caught in the rain as well, if you're interested.

Welcome Luke,

I wonder what's so enigmatic about clarinets and baroque music. Oh well....hope you hang around a while.

Welcome Tony,

Good luck with the exploration of the depths of humanity. Let me know how it turns out.

Hello, all! I'm a high school senior ('08) from Stephenville, TX who is seriously considering a major in composition (at least as part of a double-major).

The only thing I've composed so far is just a few meter-changing rhythms...I've been trying to just arrange music for now...

A few friends of mine have started this amateur film team and I've been dropping hints to the "director" that I'm interested in composing their music but he seems more interested in getting some small-time person with a few years' experience. Oh well...

Hi,

I'm Teo and am truuuuly into THE ARTS! THis looks like a greeeeat forum!

Love peace and chicken grease, Teo Do (Re, Mi, Far...) :)

Hey! Nice to meet you all!

I'm Maarja. I'm 16 years old and have been playing the piano as long as I remember. When I was 7 I started to take piano lessons and have done so ever since. :D

Few years ago I had a dream of becoming a professional concert pianist but then it just faded away. I stopped practicing as much as I should have. But lately the same thought have been coming to my mind again, which is also the reason why I joined YC, to meet young people with the same dream and other people who can just give advice or something...:)

I've been also singing in a choir for as long as I remember (altogether in 3 different choirs) and I love it a lot.

Teo, Maarja:

Welcome. I'm sure you'll find many intelligent and knowledgeable people on here (once you learn to sort out the morons)...

Stick around!

Hey, I'm Alex. I'm nineteen years old and I just left college (for sound design at SCAD) to go to boot camp for the US Navy (which starts on wed) but I love music and the thought of composing intrigues me (in a good way)

Hello everyone, my name's Casey and I'm a Senior Percussion major at the University of North Florida. Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Hey everybody, my name is Ian. I'm 18 and I just graduated high school. I've been keeping tabs on this sight for a good year or two, and I just recently joined.

I haven't really posted anything, though I've written quite a bit. I sing, play piano, clarinet, french horn, and alto sax pretty consistently, so I would say that those are my principal instruments. But I also dabble in drums, bass guitar and trumpet. I've played music professionally for a couple years, mostly in the pop culture music scene, as a keyboarder for various artists. Not so much traditional music, but I hope to sometime soon.

My biggest goals right now are getting a year of community college out of the way so I can study music, namely composition, exclusively at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon under Dr. John Peel. Once that is finished, I plan on attending USC Thornton School of Music for a Doctorate in music composition for film. With that, I'd like to be a career film composer, which will most likely begin before I even finish school.

Well that's about it. If you feel friendly, send me a message. Hopefully I'll get some compositions up soon!

Hi everyone,

I'm Tom and im 16 and studying for my GCSEs and am finishing a music A2 level. I come from a choral background - i was a chorister at Winchester Cathedral and am currently in Hampshire County Youth Choir - but i also play the piano, trumpet and organ.

I first got interested in composition when i was about 10 and stole a manuscript book from the school office. At first i wrote plainsong under the covers when i couldnt sleep (strangely theraputic to do when there are 9 other people in the dorm) but as i got more adventurous i started on an evening service and other liturgical stuff - mostly made up of the three chords i understood, but hey, it never got performed so thats ok!!!

I've recently had a bang on the head, so ive got some time off school (well my summer holidays have already begun, so to speak) so im getting back into composition again! Hooray! I wanted some people to swap ideas with as there arent that many people who are interested in composition!!!!!

Well, im british so i probably wont be on at the same time as most other people, but hope to be able to contribute something.

Thanks for the forum; it looks to be great!!!

i've got a remarkably painful life but at the same time i can't imagine a more meaningful one.

my grandfather was raymond montoni, the violist, and my grandmother was hope montoni, the opera singer, my mother i the dancer and i a mroberto luis navarro wood (wood being the name added on when i was adoptee by the woods), the composer. i'm a dreamer, but what is music if not a dream?

i'm not that incredible, i don't have perfect picth and i'm not a prodigy. there seems to be two kind of composers, the prodigies and the ones who have to work very hard for any progress.

i am the second, but according to mrs. swados, to worry about which you are is a waste of everyone's time.

each new piece i right is more beautiful, technical, and thought out that the last. and so i am not freaking out about my future, i know i will be great. composing is a beautiful thing, however. next to divine, actually. it's art. it's poetic and relieving. i can't imagine anything more beautiful then looking at the almost completely black sheet of paper and realize that an hour ago there wasn't anything on it. well, the ocean is more beautiful. but that's it.

i love it.

so i'm trying to pursue composing, and i'm hoping to get attention early on so that when i'm older i don't kill myself trying to get my crap out there.

thanks for reading

my stuff on here will probably move along slowly but it'll be there.

check me out maybe sometime.

Hey, welcome!

I doubt you'll be around for long (purely because of statistics) but that's an interesting story you've got there...

Stick around. (pretty please)

Begging, Andy? :D

This is as side of you I've never seen :D

Very poetic. The world is still a big box of scraggy, though, don't be fooled.

Hey there,Im Zahveer from Nagpur,India.Ive been learning the guitar since two n a half years now.

I really have an intrest in composing music but havent been much sucessful in it.

Can u guys give me some tips

I studied Piano and Violin for 6 Years but that started at age 11, I am on 78.

I also studied voice for 8 years around the same time.

I unfortunatelly skipped all my theory clases.

I only started singing professionally for the past 20 years.

I intend to now study theory and try my hand at composing.

Welcome, Zahveer and macchia!

Zahveer, if you're looking for tips, try posting a piece that you've been having problems with, or asking a more specific question. That way, someone can help you out.

hi im rusty i am a rap producer and i make rap beats

hi rusty im robin welcome 2 the forum i hope your rap beats r awesome

Hello, I'm new here, but I've played flute for 5 years, guitar for 1, and I'm in the process of learning piano, and I've composed quite a few compositional excercises for my theory class(I was a student), and written a full piece which I posted over in Chamber Music. I came here to learn how to compose better and get more than just a couple peoples' feedback.

Welcome to the forums Foxhull, think I'm gonna go check out this piece of yours...
