Well, i do compose music, but i make a living primarily from performing and teaching at this moment. Still trying to turn myself into a full time composer. It's going well so far, I've won my first award in composition, and recieved my first comission.

That's good... better than me. Congrats for winning that award.

Where's the commission from?

From the guy who sponsor the award :)

Fellow Composers,

My name is Carlton and I am from Columbus, OH. Currently, I am enrolled in a music theory class in my high school and I'm pretty much an advanced student. We get to compose our own pieces and just have a lot of fun. This is the only class I am excited about at my school, but who cares. I love writing serious pieces for Concert Band/Wind Ensemble and I have fun with it. You will see me pop up from time-to-time with questions and comments. Thank you for letting me stay here and not get attacked by those squirrels.

Peace,

C. Winston:toothygrin:

Welcome, everyone...stick around...yeah...

I am enrolled in a music theory class in my high school

god, I wish my highschool had that... we just have a regular music class, where we do some theory but mostly playing. good stuff.

welcome aboard! (that goes for everyone else too)

I'm signed up for AP Music Theory. As well as AP Art History, English, and US History. I'm not a math/science person.

Hello my name is Raj I am new, I am from India I studied Sitar and play Sitar. Currently I am graduate student at UCLA and am professor as well. I play Sitar, Piano, Organ, Indian flute, and many other instruments. I teach private music lessons.

Sinner!

*Beats Sapphire over head with equation*

It seems that everyone here is either very scientifically enclined, or not at all, no middle ground. Strange.

I'm taking biology and no math. I'm done with math.

You already done calculus?

I will never take any Math related classes in my entire life after 9th grade

Hm. But math is actually useful... the concepts more so than the details.

I actually feel I have a bit of a weakness for not really understanding differential equations, and I only made it halfway through linear algebra. The mechanics of the math are generally boring, but the fact that it can give you a yet another perspective on things, is actually pretty helpful.

That doesn't mean to say that I liked learning any of it though.

(I studied Computer Science, and ended up with nearly a Math minor... so that includes Calculus, and Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations, and Discrete Math, and plenty of other sub topics that come up in algorithm analysis and stuff.)

hi, I'm Mathieu.. i know.. it's weird.. it's French :D

I am 14, from Kentucky USA, I'm in the Marching Band at Eastern High (you might see us as BOA regionals) and *childish voice* I wanna be a composer when i grow up, daddy!

I use Ubuntu Linux so i'm trying to get Finale to work. once I do, I have this awesome song for symphonic band my brain is ready to unleash, so watch out!

Que faites-vous au Kentucky si vous

Hi all, I'm Eno (= not my real name obviously) and am currently a double-degree student in Music Performance and Biology.

Peace out!

Hi, I'm Luca, 16, from Switzerland...

I love music, specially classical, and I love to compose pieces for myself. I play the piano and guitar, and I use Sibelius on a Mac.

So, thanks for the opportunity given by this forum!;)

Hello my name is Raj I am new, I am from India I studied Sitar and play Sitar.

Oh, wow, an Indian sitar player. Hi, I have a snake charmer flute from india. I also have a few indian bamboo flutes ( I collect wind instruments from all over the world). I have no idea how the tuning system works. I wonder if they are just souvenirs for tourists. Can you help me here or may be start a new thread? Thanks.

Welcome, Smartyy.

Ah, sorry. I assumed that, if your parents had given you a French given name, you'd know some yourself.

Say what now? =P I don't speak French.. maybe I should take it though lol.. Ima do a search on Rosegarden, thanks!

-Smartyy!

He asked "what are you doing in Kentucky if you're French" :)
