Hello I’m new here (quite obviously.) I’m from Virginia, U.S.. I have played the violin for 3 years, currently learning the piano, and I have experimented with viola cello and bass. The recorder, an instrument I have been playing since 3rd grade, is also among my instrument list. I have been composing for a little less than a year and have already performed a violin concerto I have made. My current work is a 5 movement symphony with full orchestra, choir, piano and soprano tenor and alto soloists.

 Better slow down grasshopper... Most people learn to walk before they run. ;)

I'm Dev and I'm posting here to get rid of this:

Hello Dev,

It appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks. Why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

Also it's my 18th birthday tomorrow and the ones that don't wish me happy birthday shall be eaten

Oooo... pleasant. Eaten byyyy?

WOOOOO! A Boosh Fan!

*high fives*

I never introduced myself.

I am a fervent admirer of Wagner and his "disciples". I joined this forum because, there are few places where others of my sort exist on this planet.

To Dev: whatever is going to come eat me, bring it on! I never lose.

Mark I would be very angry with you for making me lose the game if you weren't a Boosh fan.

I understand, but I never said how much of the symphony I have composed yet. I am still finalizing the outline of the work though I have created multiple melodies for certain movements. My orchestra teacher from last year, who currently teaches at a high school, has considered performing it, that is if I get it finished in time, so this means I have at most 4 years (since I am in 8th grade), to complete it. I have also read up on music theory and composition and have a large book on these topics at home if I ever get lost.

By the way, I have checked out your website, it's pretty good, I enjoyed it!

Hi!

I'm Leonardo and I live near Venice, I try to be a keyboard player and a composer  .

This place looks very nice :) ...

...here you can find some music (only improvisations for now): myspace.com/nullodiesinenota .

If you don't like them I hope you'll like the video where I play "Bituin Martino" (with a special thanx to Mahler in the end) .

Bye, kra, Leo :)

 ... Okay....all I meant is, it seems like a pretty major undertaking for so new a composer. I expect many seasoned composers wouldn't even consider something of that magnitude... BUT, best of luck! Please, share it when it's done!

@Sir Violinist: I've not understand your post... :sadtears: .

By the way I wrote "I try to be a composer"... I began recently serious composition's studies and I've composed only some piano pieces, a piece for two pianos (that took 90 points at a national composers'competition) and a trio. Now I'm working at a quartet with piano.

I love music, that's it. :)

I'm happy you like my site, in the next months I think I'll share on line not only improvisations but also some compositions.

Bye, Leo :)

hello All!

my name is Malak (ii) and i am in toronto. i am a small film distributor AND this would be our second year doing a small new festival= QUEER 2 FLY FILM FESTIVAL. I am not a composer but i am looking for young musicians to team up with for 3 reasons:

1) for the festival-www.q2fff.com we don't collect the films done but we make them- all educational- therefore i'll need music for those short films where we will start shooting in january and we must screen them on March 22nd and 23rd at the University of Toronto, Innis Hall! Therefore, i'll need the music during January and february and possibly March if we're running late. This is a small festival so it's not a paying gig- however, you will coleect royalties if you're with Socan!!!

2) since we have a small FILM distribution company- we specialize in EDUCATIONAL/ ENTERTAINING/ NON PORNOGRAPHIC QUEER FILMS. sometimes they come with the music unclear/ in otherwords we need to score the short film again and of course as always, there is no budget for these small films, so, we come and get these shorts out of limbo and with people like you we can save the film with your music- again- this is not a paying job but a small contract for these will be made on a small percentage for you + rpyalties from Socan..

3) I AM looking for original songs - ELECTRONICA- like TELEPOPMUSIC- BENT- ROYKSOPP- CHRIS COCO-DIDO- i want to produce my first album in 2008, i am a lyricist as well and a singer,,,so i am looking for serious composers to give me great melodies!!!

lastly, i tank you all for the nice opportunities, this is very exiting...good luck to all..

malak!

Hello, I'm Peter :)

Started a few good years ago as a metalhead and nowadays slowly evolving towards musical maturity (hope so).

I can play electric guitar and keyboard, both rather poor since I use them to compose, not practice.

I've written music for two short documentaries, You can listen to some clips on MySpace.com - Topti - Tychy, PL - Fusion / Electroacoustic - www.myspace.com/topti and soon here on the site, when I'll post my stuff.

Best regards to all ;)

Hello. I am Helga, 21, from Iceland.

I study composition at the local academy and am trying to expand my musical horizon. I must say this forum is rather intriguing. ;)

Most of my every day music includes film and game soundtracks, impressionism & neo-classicism, along with a healthy dose of 'popular' music (rock, the oh so descriptive 'alternative' and the like).

I have yet to find a stamp that can really describe my own original music, and am honestly not too fussed.

The few days I've spent here have helped quite a lot with expanding my English musical vocabulary, so any help there would be greatly appreciated.

I'm AGD.

I'm 17, about turn 18 and will be graduating in May. I plan on doing a music career, with a minor in composing, and I'm very interested in it right now. I've been in band since 6th grade and play percussion. I am a drummer, and a beginner pianist. I've been making hip hop beats for about 2 years I suppose, and at the same time I've made free lance compositions, just to clear my head.

I suppose it's more of an expression, when I'm completely absorbed in the music I'm putting out, in the dead of night. I'd love to share it some way, and this site seems interesting.

So in the end, hello.

good luck with that, i believe if you truly do your best you can do anything

Hi, I am 16 and am planning on joining the army to continue my music career. I have also done a bit of arranging and composing for band.

I apologize, I was reffering to robin jessome's comment (the person playing the trombone) sorry if I confused you. But I have visited your website, keep up the good work and don't forget to share your compositions, I would like to hear them.

Hi, I'm Clay, I am 14 and rather new to composing. I joined this forum to learn something new and get feedback on my compositions.

I am currently a freshman in a Kentucky High School, and I play Trombone and Piano. I love every aspect of music, and have been composing piaces for several years. Aver the summer, though, I learned more about the rules for music composition and am trying to write music that adheres to these rules. I hope that I will be able to do so before I go to college.

Hi, My name is Mark, and I am 50 years "young". I consider myself a "young" composer because after about 30 years of not being active in the music scene, I have some more spare time on my hands now, and I am beginning to do some arranging and composing once again. My background: I studied Music Theory in high school, I also played the bass trombone. I then attended the music department at Kean College of NJ (Now Kean University) and studied trombone with Ed Irwin from the NY Philharmonic there. I studied Orchestral conducting at Julliard School in NY with Vincent La Selva and the Late Leonard Bernstein. I also had an interest in computers and the then new technology of networking, so I studied that after my music education, and started working in that field. I kind of stayed in music by volunteering to conduct the choir at my church. I became a radio talk show host in 1993 and hosted a syndicated show about technology for 11 years. I recently became involved with a progressive rock tribute band and have been orchestrating some of the classic progressive (1970's) rock music for full orchestra (It's amazing how easily it comes back to you after all these years).

Clay, You are very lucky to be able to learn music theory pre-college. I was able to take three years of music theory in HS, and I was able to "test out" of theory in college. I was able to take more courses in my field of interest, which was conducting, because of it. Learn as much as you can before you attend college.
