Ciao a tutti,

my name is Lorenzo, I am Italian but live and work in Cleveland. I play piano and organ to make a living, and compose for glory... I also teach Italian at Case University.

I only studied composition privately for a couple of years in Rome - I would like to study more, but I need to find a great teacher first. In the meantime, I am writing as much as I can. I would love to get in touch with other composers in the US and abroad! That's the main reason for me joining this site.

I am doing good in Cleveland, but I think I will move somewhere else in the future - I love to travel! I will post a couple of my pieces soon, I would appreciate any comments. Thanks!! Arrivederci

Lorenzo

Guess I might as well introduce myself...

I'm Robin, which means I jump every time I see that thread 'Randomness with Robin'... I'm 17, and just finishing my A levels, I live in the UK... I sing and compose (as much as I have time for). And play the piano, but don't practise so that's actually a lie. Er... so yeah. Hi.

Hello. My name is Jordan McRae I am 13 years old and I have been playing in the saxophone family since I was in the 5th grade, so I am assuming this is about 4-5 years. My cousin Clayton and myself are starting a music group. Me on sax, Clayton on Piano. The type of music we are reaching toward is a jazz/funk/smooth jazz music. So that's my musical story and I hope you can enjoy my music that is coming in the near distant future.

Sincerely, Jordan McRae :-)

Jubilee is the name of a popular female x-men. For the cultural impair, this one x-men.

If there is a comic book character with whom I can relate, it would be Jubilee, therefore my alias.

Personal Information:

I grew in a place where everything is consider dreary, and when something exciting does happen, it means that a tornado came roaring by. Yes, I come from the mighty midwest, but not kentucky, or I would be getting luck in kentucky. No, I came from Nebraska, where we are proud to be cornhuskers, well, some of us are proud to be corn huskers.

I also grew up in California. A more adventures spot. I graduate from Stanford University with a degree in Lit and Music. I'll be the first to admit that I hardly studied for music but I do enjoy being around musical people. I can honestly say that is the only reason why I have a music degree.

Professional speaking, I am editor. Yes, I correct writing. It's more like, I pretend to correct writing. If anyone has any homework, essay, or heteromorphous writing task that needs editing, I am more than happy to do the work. I do need a few days notice. I'm busy but friendly.

Hello, I just registered. My name is Steve Mueske. I compose in a lot of different genres but have mostly concentrated on electronica for the last five years or so. I participate at a number of different forums and write software reviews for Songstuff.com.

Not much to say, really. Looking forward to poking around a bit. If anyone is interested, I do have a site on MySpace MySpace.com - Steve Mueske - - Electronica / Experimental / Progressive - www.myspace.com/stevemueske

Looking forward to meeting you!

Uh, people can't remotely access your HD from that non-link, dude.

If that's what you were going for.

Hello, I'm Simon, from the UK. I've just finished my second year at university - studying music, of course! I've been a cellist, pianist and small-time organist for most of my life, but in the past few years I've become more interested in composition. I mostly write for orchestra, chorus and solo instruments, with most of my influences being twentieth-century composers - Sibelius, Prokofiev and Stravinsky come to mind most easily.

Welcome to YC guys and gals! Hopefully you'll stick around :)

What

Hey my name is Brett Hunter a math major in college.

I tried to write some things in the past and thought I give it a try again.

Brett

Welcome to YC

Sorry....had to do it!!!

I'm Mathieu from KY in USA, i've never composed before but I hope that will change soon. I want to compose major works like Julie Giroux... I met her at a clinic and I think that is what I would love to do best.

I play piano bassoon alto and tenor sax, clarinet, accordion, flute and piccolo...

hello again, I had a username before but just created a different account.

My name is Brian - I am a cellist.

I like writing for small ensembles. Especially strings.

I have taken a turn towards minimalism lately.

I'm John S. Dante Mandella. I'm a Junior at Columbia Central High School in Toronto. I've been composing since I was in 6th grade. I love the sound of brass instruments (they make me feel warm and fuzzy inside). As an instrumentalist, my weapon of choice is the concert french horn (preferably a double F/Bb), though I've made my way around various parts of the brass choir, and also jazz with a tenor and bari' sax in hand.

Welcome newcomers....stick around. Its fun times.

@ John - nice to see more local Canadian content

Hey!

I'm Steph from Wales in UK. I play flute, saxophone and piano. I'm studing Music in September at University, where i was going to concentrate on performance, but i've recently been contemplating on taking composition very seriously as a module and even havea career in it, so this is the best place for me to get advice really! First things first though, I have never studied any amount of harmony or counterpoint in school, as the examination boards vary from school to school, so when i changed schools, i missed out on quite a lot of knowledge.

So, really what i'm saying is if anyone can provide any info or suggest any books etc, i would be really grateful for anything!

Thanks:)!!!

Stephxxxx

Heloo, I'm from Ukraine 17 years old,

still trying to start composing properly

playing sax, composing(trying) on piano...

Had no chance to get a composition teacher so I'm iguring everything bymyself...

Now trying to learn more of basic and jazz harmony, adding piece of me = smthing like composition, well maybe sm1 can tell other way to start if there is any...

welcome to yc Mr. flautist..enjoy your stay

I love how we greet people like they are coming to a hotel or something.:D

(which might be apropriate, given the average life expectancy of a new member...)

Welcome all!

Hey there, I'm a piano player from AL. I compose little simple songs...but what I really enjoy is rhapsodizing and improvizing on themes. Most of what I write are Fantasies on this, or variations on that.

Hi... Ummm... Hi. Gosh, I get so nervous doing introductions. LOL Anyway, I'm Brendhan, 28 YOA, from Waukegan, IL, a northern burb of Chicago. Good times. I'm a new composer b/c I don't perform much anymore courtesy of my new job. Hmmmm... favorite composers... Tchaik, Shosti, Mahler, Beeth, Rach, Stravinsky and lest I forget John Williams. Favorite orchestra: Berlin Philharmonic and my new favorite Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela who have the most flawless recording of Mahler 5 that I have ever heard. CSO's recording of Mahler 3 is actually pretty good, too... living in Chicago, I have seen the best and worst of the CSO... moreso the worst. Yeah, so I'm totally done introducing myself. Please check out some of my original compositions at MySpace.com - B Sheezy Productions - WAUKEGAN, Illinois - Classical - www.myspace.com/bsheezyproductions
