Hey all!

I'm Jeremy. I'm from central USA and I compose music for film and video games. I play piano at my local church. I try to compose in a wide range of styles, but my strength (people say anyway) are slow, melodic pieces involving piano and orchestra.

Anyway, it's great to be here!

Jeremy

Hello,my name is Tawanyh, but most people call me just Taw.I

Hello, my names Andrew. I'm 16 and I play the piano. I am composing mainly Ragtime and Stride piano styles however I have also been getting into Romanticism and Baroque music recently. Look forward to learning and sharing here.

Welcome!

Welcome, welcome, welcome!

Now leave. This place will eat your SOUL.

Hey everyone, I'm Burl. To sum myself up I'm a struggling composer who hasn't given up yet. Nice to meet everyone.

Hi everyone, I'm Simon, 20 years old, hailing from the Netherlands. I've been writing music for about 4 years now and recently started dabbling in music theory.

Uh, well, I'm bad with introductions. If anyone's interested, here's some of my favorite artists:

Kayo Dot, Carlo Gesualdo, Arvo P

Welcome! :w00t:

Well, that was... Nice.

:D

It's just that he's not a fan of most of the artists you named. Nevermind him :P

How can one not appreciate Messiaen's Turangalila...

By not appreciating it.

Hi. I'm lil, as my screen name says. It's a pseudonym, but it's not far from the truth. I don't have a picture because that's not what this forum is about.

I graduated with a BMus in 2004 from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick and am currently taking another degree in English at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. After that, I'll be going to Memorial University of Newfoundland (in Newfoundland) to study folklore.

I played the piano for a while, and the horn, and the violin. But I wasn't actually good enough, so I stopped playing publicly. I suppose my first composition kind of happened when I was eleven or twelve, and I've been composing off and on ever since. Of course, I had to get a copy of Sibelius for my music degree, which greatly increased my output and variety.

Mostly, I compose chamber music, although I've been known to write the odd large orchestral work based on video game themes. The most recent one I've completed is a symphonic poem based on King's Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella. It rocks. A little Tchaik, a little Strav, a little Berlioz.

Currently my output is purely in midi form, which kind of ... doesn't rock. But, I'll be upgrading soon, and then look out. I've been composing prolifically since summer 2003. There'll be MP3 posts flying up all over this forum with my name on them. (Well, pseudonym.)

Anyway, I'll see you around, be answering questions, posting questions. You know: forum stuff.

Go away.

Everyone.

Don't worry, they will. None of the new members stick around nowadays.

Hey all, my name is Alan and I am 17(still in high school but a senior). I have started an intrest in music composition at 16 and I hope to major in it. I play the clarinet, piano, and sing as a countertenor. Classical music is my favorite genre, and I really love to write in that style, but don't worry, I apply the changes to modern instruments to the style as well, so I'll be using french horn, and trumpet for more than just harmonics in some of my pieces. I hope to get to hear and examine a lot of pieces, classical and non-classical. I am a fan of modern music like rock, and some pop and video game soundtracks, but most of what I have on my i-pod is classical. I hope to have a greta experience on these forums and hope to post some of my music over the years.

I'm not the best at introductions so I hope it was a good start:blush:

Hello! My name's C. Filipe Alves, I'm Portuguese. I'm here to learn more about music composing! But this is a real big community and I dont know where to start: a lesson or something, I dont know..

Can you help me?

Theflep:

start by listening, and reviewing other people's music, and just settle into the community. Once you gain some familiarity, post some of your own stuff, and people will look at it as long as you continue to look at theirs.

Don't be shy, we only bite people on Tuesdays, and every other Friday. ;)

Hello all! I was on this site before and had a considerable post count (must have been around 100 or so), but lost that username and password after getting a new computer and not going on YC for a long time. However, I never formally introduced myself - as Vice President of East Coast Network Television and Microwave Oven Programming. I don't really compose, I just listen to Liszt while watching Lesbian Canadian Pornography.

Lesbian and Canadian. What honorable women they must be. My favorite type, in fact. :D

I like you.

However, a post count of 100 is microscopic compared to mine. It's evidence of not having a life.

Hey, I'm Jalina.

I've been composing for about a year or 2, not long, but I love it and want to make it my career.

I play piano and guitar, but I've never had lessons. I'm getting guitar lessons soon. My mom had piano lessons when she was young, so she taught me all she could remember. I used books and videos to teach myself basic guitar.

I learned to read music from band, where i used to play tenor sax. My band instructer decieded to be a chior instructor, so i quit. But i learned tons from band.

I'm 14, I'll lbe 15 in about 2 months.

Almost everything I write is dark and somber, which is weird. I'm a happy bright person.

Someone talk to me :]

I'm a happy bright person.

What's your secret?

What's your secret?

Writing depressing music seems to do it.
