I'm Ian, I'm from Dublin in Ireland and I'm 16 years old. I only began composition and serious music a short time ago, though I've moved as quickly as I could and am now at a respectable level for someone of my age.

I'm came to this board to get some feedback and some advice on my music, as I wish to pursue this as a career and want to know if I have the potential!

Welcome good sir :) hope to hear some works of yours soon.

Welcome back!!

I assume you mean Wolf_88 and not Wolf (because we had him too, I think).

I.e., you're Vuk, yes?

Great to see you back. :)

Hi, everyone...

this is a very long thread...

I'm Jai, I'm australian, I'm 13, I play some Piano, a bit of trombone, a bit of guitar, I have played clarinet, and I try to compose a bit of stuff in finale. I'm not very good at composing, however.

Welcome back!!

Me vuk, yes :P thanks! ^^

Hi I'm Alayna I've never actually had the chance to write down any of my compositions... (if you lived with my sisters you'd understand) so I just try to improv it off of memory which doesn't always work. Any way I've played flute for about ten years, and hope after I go off to college I can actually write all my work down without the fear of two angry sisters.

Welcome to my forums.

Hello folks, I'm John from the Isle of Wight, England. Hope I'm not too old for this group----I've been stuck on the age of 17 for the past 60 years---you ask my wife!

Seriously, I started work on my 1st symphony back in 1948 at the age of 17 but was unable to complete it until I had done a course in music writing with the Open College of the Arts 50 years later. Around that time, I started violin lessons but couldn't get past Grade 1. I now concentrate on copying out the music of lesser known 19th century composers into Noteworthy software to put on the Noteworthy Scriptorium and, in MIDI form on the Classical Music Archives.

Cheers,

John.

Nice to have you here John :).

Hi guys, Request you to please go through the composition at Loneliness.

I have simply developed this on Dm, Gm6, A7, C#dim on my Yamaha keyboard.

Please let me know that how can I make it batter.

Cheers !

Manoj Jain

First of all, this isn't the thread to post music. Also, this is a community, so the more you post comments on other peoples works the more likely they are to return the favor.

Hi I'm Zach Vogel. Freshly turned 18 i have been playing French Horn for 3 years now. I can safely say music saved my life and finally I feel as thought I can compose.

I am mostly here for some serious composing help. Maybe someone with MSN would like to take me as sort of an apprentice. I have no piano background and am learning theory.

Sorry if this shouldn't be here. please direct me to where it should be.

Musically,

HornMan734

Hey,

I'm Dan Reynolds and I'm 26. I've been making music up for as long as I can remember and writing it down for about 15~16 years. My principle in grade school was Clarinet with a secondary in Oboe and I play a little Piano and even less Guitar.

I've been producing music digitally for about 10 years and have been writing professionally (as in paid compositional work) for about 1.

Generally, my Music Theory is self-taught (though I had some primer from my grade-school piano teacher) as my major in College was English with a background in Japanese.

One thing I am always striving to improve is my orchestrational and arranging abilities, you can never be good enough at this, in my opinion, and because I have no real formal education, I sometimes struggle with this.

My compositional influences are:

John Williams (brilliant orchestrator)

Alan Menken (so colorful)

Joe Hisaishi (have you noticed I favor film composers?)

R Vaughan Williams (also a film composer)

Gustav Holst

Edvard Elgar

Composers I like, though you can't hear it in my music (for better or worse):

Debussy

Chopin

Shostakovich

Tchaikovski

Stravinski

some Brahms

some Beethoven (usually late)

My personal focus is music for games and interactive mediums because I think that interactive music in games is very cool and that's a section of the art and craft with which I would like to engage.

Hope that paints a little sketch of what I'm about. I consider myself to be an adolescent composer--still young, but I can grow whisps of facial hair. ;)

Hello all. I'm Nick, a cellist from the dead center of the US. I started writiing music a couple of years ago and stopped (never finished anything) but I began writing again over the summer and now I have a couple of pieces and I'm wondering if any of it actually sounds good to other people.

Hi,

I've been composing since I was 16. For many years I've been too busy with other types of work to really make a career out of it, finally I'm in a position to start carving out a career in musical compostion.

I'm a graduate of the National School of the Arts, with my primary instrument being piano and secondary percussion.

I also have a degree in Sound Engineering.

I've been a member of (nearly) every orchestra in my country as well as a few special invitation orchestras.

T-anks, for having me here. I'm looking forward to having interesting people to talk to.
