Hi I'm Alex, I live in New York City and I play the drums and write music.

Hello...I'm dropping in for a few days...

I want to catch up on my friends here, since I have less to do at this point in the semester.

Those of you who were my friends will know me by my old account bpopw750, but I'm not rejoining, just paying YC a brief visit...

...hence the changed name :).

Good to be back, even for short while.

Brooks

Nice to have you back guy! :)

Hello to everyone here!

My name is Thomas, and I am completely obsessed with, bowled over by, and in love with music. At this moment I am nineteen, though I will soon be twenty. My whole life to the last two years or so has been un-musical, for the most part. Of course, I listened to Tchaikovsky's suites and overtures, and a few miscellaneous pieces, but never was I into music. Well, I made a pledge recently that I must find the source of that cosmic inspiration called music, and I must explore it in all its corridors for all time[/b!

Music is quickly becoming a religion for me. I believe completely in the power and accomplishment that is human music. For all the architecture, literature, and poetry on the planet earth, it is music above all that grabs me. When I hear sounds in the form of music, a shining light surrounds me entirely! This is not a mere love for music; it transcends beyond proper description. Excuse the drama, but all music of all kinds are my domain, and I love it utterly. If any of you, my fellow musicians, can imagine the most passionate love you've ever felt for another person, and multiply it by a few hundred fold, you will approach my love for music.

Hyperbole aside, I am realistically just beginning my journey. As my name implies, I am a 'cello enthusiast, but not a 'cellist, as of yet! Unfortunately, many of my circumstances prevent me from having one at the moment, but I will prevail - I must. Music itself seems to call to me, whether it is Palestrina, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Saint-Sa

Hello, My name is Prestonious. I'm 18 and live in Atlanta Georgia. I played trombone through high school and marching band. I taught my self how to play piano and i play electric/acoustic guitar and sing in a band. I've been writing songs since i was 14 but i have no idea how to compose. I'd really like to learn and thats why I'm here.

Hey, I'm Kyle. I've been an active musician since my highschool days, started composing when I was in about 10th grade, and it's my one true passion in life. In January I'll be finally attending The University of Minnesota Duluth for Social Work with a minor in Sports Medicine. NO, just kidding! I'm a music major for sure! I've known I wanted to be a music major practically when I first learned of the whole idea of college. So I'm soon to be a Theory/Composition major there.

I actually have an old account here, if anyone remembers the user "nimblefingers" well...I thought the name was dumb lol, and I couldn't remember my password, so I got a new one.

This is still my best piece to this day: http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/buttons-3644.html

These days I think I'll be spending a lot more time here, looking forward to hearing and working with great music!

Hello...I played trombone...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Hey, I'm Kyle.

Welcome back, and welcome to any other new faces...stick around.

I see that Robin is amusing himself, as always, with the newlings :D

Hey everbody,

I'm Leo, just learning guitar and piano. I am more of a fan than anything else. I like hearing new music, and sharing music I find.

Hey there, I found this forum very interesting. I am 17 and getting ready to study music composition in college next year. Although I've been writing for a few years now, I haven't done anything too professional yet. I'm hoping that this website will help me connect with some other people that have been in the business for some time, and hopefully I can improve on my own skills with insight from other people.

As far as music goes, I have a pretty open mind. I write for a variety of different styles. I'm a bass player and a pianist, but I love to write for choir or band as well. I write music ranging anywhere from massive tonal (almost romantic style pieces), to fierce rhythmic pieces, to even twelve-tone songs. I love to write program music, and I'm actually most known for writing metal music (if thats even called music on here...:) ).

Some of my biggest influences are Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Bartok, Messiaen, Ligeti, and Stravinsky, but I try hard to develop my own style of music. Hopefully I will enjoy this community. I am interested in the contests going on, so expect me to be active on here soon.

I like you.

You better not loving leave like all the rest.

Hey guys, I'm Daniel. I'm 16 and I play the cello and the piano. I have been composing for as long as I can remember, but I haven't taken it seriously and I hope participating in this will encourage me to work!

I like you.

You better not loving leave like all the rest.

He will. They all do. :sadtears:

My name is Justin, I am currently going to college studying international business. I have been messing around with cakewalk pro audio since highschool and though im not very good at it, I enjoy trying to write songs. I've never shared my music with anyone so thought it would be fun to get some criticism and hopefully compose a bit better because of it.

Thanks for having me :)

Being on this site does help a lot with your composing, like a lot a lot a lot.

I like you.

You better not loving leave like all the rest.

HAHAHAHAHA!!

The most repelling warm welcome EVER!

Hello! Just found out about this site after I decided to really study composing. I have studied piano privately for around 13 years and the violin for 11. I'll just be popping in every so often and possibly posting a few pieces I've been working on.

My name is Stefan. I'm 19 years old and I started composing in May of 2008, roughly 6 months, on Sibelius Software.

I can't say I'm much of a musician, I've played piano about two years and guitar for three, so I pretty much just resort to my head for writing.

Im enrolling at Columbia College in the fall of 2009 to puruse a BM in composition.

I've decided I would like to write music professionally just like everybody else here hahaha, films or musicals maybe.

Just trying to put my stuff out there and get some feedback to see if I'm headed in the right direction.

I've been checking out alot of the threads and there are some incredibly talented composers on here so I'll certainly try to fit in.

Hello and good bye, for you guys who will be leaving within two weeks times.

This thread depresses me.
