Greetings!

This is the last orchestral/choral thing for a while, I promise. I wanted to try something slower and darker. It's also a bit longer. Some familiar instrumentation for fans of the other pieces I posted recently. See what you make of it:

I like the little "twinkly" sound that can be associated with "Magic" at the beginning and middle. Very mystical sounding :lol: I also appreciate your development into a chilled out middle section, but I felt the piano was an rather odd touch. When a piano isn't the main diva of the piece, it's just sort of strange for it to chime in for just a little segment of the piece. Maybe it's just me :dunno:

That said, there's wonderful atmosphere, and your panning and sampling is as fantastic as ever :happy: Wonderful work! Thanks for sharing with us :D

Thanks, Serge! I totally hear you on the piano but it's always been an instrument I love to toss into orchestral settings when I get the chance....haven't done it in a while so I decided this was as good a piece as any to incorporate it into. It's not a particularly common combination I suppose when the piano's not the diva as you put it, but I still enjoy it. :)

0.42: Holy scraggy, that choir sounds awesome!

1.32: Excellent chord.

1.44: Interesting change. Lotsa variety in this track.

I just listened on my laptop speakers so I can't be too critical, but from what I heard, I liked!

Thanks, J! I agree, I'm pretty much satisfied with the way it slots into my template now so all is well.

John: You gotta listen to it with some good headphones to get the full effect of the low brass blasts with those choirs. The low end is fun. I'm so glad you noticed my woodwind chords, I was quite proud of them. :D

Haha i really loved this Marius. Reminds me of my child hoos, and oh how i loved this enjoyable mystical music. 10/10 for being such a fun guy, and it shows through the music :D

Another great one M. I like how you incorporate woodwind scale runs in your pieces, I can never get those working in mine lol :D

Choirs are awesome. I was maybe expecting some weird melody or something, trough the "enigmatic" scale. (familiar with that?) But it was awesome as it is.

Jamal: Thanks, bud! I try. :P I'm actually happy you felt some nostalgia because the mood I was after did have a certain intentional vintageness to it, though filtered through a pretty contemporary aesthetic.

Phant: Those woodwind runs are very effective, yes. A combination of EWQLSO and Hollywoodwinds is what does the trick! I am indeed familiar with the enigmatic scale, though I tend to avoid intentionally using theoretical elements like that in my music. They filter in as subconscious things, I never set out and say "OKAY now I'm going to put in an ENIGMATIC SCALE SEQUENCE and it's going to be AWESOME." I can't work like that. :P

Or, "I'm gonna use a dominant chord and resolve it to the tonic!" Not as fun as it sounds.

Yeah, I get what you are saying, I can't work like that either. But it doesn't hurt to know things, for example almost every piece I heard that had something to do with magic or wizards had incorporated the enigmatic scale in some way. But that just means you're original :)

i recall some of my teachers using these terms in a very musical way, they could hear, write, explain and make it musical just as powerful as we could "without thinking of it". but i don't think marius needs any help :P (he knows why)

Only one critic: could be more longer, but anyway really nice.

One word: Epic.

I have only one flaw to point out, maybe it should be longer. If not longer, then at least have a bigger climax.

At 00:40 the march gets me every time. I love this kind of stuff. Did you make it for some cutscene? Sometimes it sounds like it.

The middle section sounds like the kind of desolate atmosphere that at the same time provides space for dialogue, that's why I ask.

Then the march comes back!! :D
