Composer wanted for a Richard Wagner style opera

Featured Replies

We are looking for a skilled composer with feelings for the works of Richard Wagner, to create a new Opera in the same style like "Fying Dutchman" but all new. Theme will be the Atlantis myth.

I'm intrigued. Perhaps you could provide more details about the project? Is it to be performed? Is there a timespan in which you'd like to complete it all? Do you have the libretto? Information like that would be nice, thanks.

This smells like a bad idea.

Smells like spam to me...

it is not a spam, nor a bad idea. It is real, well payed and a great challenge for someboddy who can do it. Others please keep away.

Thanks for your reply to this topic. There could be interest here in this thread, but if you start a thread and then don't come back until asked, it looks like it could be spam!

However, we'd be ineterested in seeing details about the project, as it sounds like it could be a fantastic project. I look forward to hearing about it.

I am on my summer vacation in Spain at present and therefore not allways able and willing to sit on the P.C. . However, from next week I will be back in business and can proceed.

I don't understand. Do you mean you want to use the music to "The Flying Dutchman" and use a new libretto?

Or do you want to stage a postmodern production of "The Flying Dutchman" that is set in Atlantis? With new music?

I think he said:

"a new Opera in the same style like "Fying Dutchman" but all new."

I reckon that means composing a new work to a libretto, neither source nor language of which have yet been divulged.

Well, I get on with chromatic harmony....sooner the Fliegender Hollaender/Rienzi end than Tristan...but...

Seriously, what's the proposition?

I am very much interested to do this. I love Wagner's art and I would be honored to compose an opera in this magnificant style, which for me is timeless. Please contact me. topauction@pellicer.org

thanks-Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Come on guys.

You're replying to an ad of 2 lines???

"well payed", how much?

Marius asked some things: "deadlines"? "peformed or not"?

Come on. You will believe this atlantis guy?

Do you know how much it takes to bring up an opera? And the guy is promising good money and so on? Do you think that anyone looking for composer for an opera for crying out loud, would be like this?

Sorry, atlantis I don't believe a word you say. Provide proof about all the things you promise and I'll give you links to my (amazing, wonderful, great, unique :)) music! Until then... no deal!

... I don't think he is coming back...

BTW- Nico, how long have you been "Reviewer of Death"?
