May 9, 20169 yr This was my entry from way back when we did the first theme challenge using luderart's melody. I've since re-written it and I'm just so darn fond of it I decided it should be the first work I upload to the newly refurbished site. New feedback would be cool, but it's not like I haven't already gotten quite a bit before. I think right now we're just trying to make this whole thing not look so empty. And so without further ado, here is my "Ludey" piece. EDIT: Oh so fun fact: The last notes of this piece are the first notes I wrote as the accompaniment for the theme when I first sketched this out (in the left hand at measure 6). It's not that significant but I thought a work I started based on someone else's melody would be better ended on my own notes, so to speak.
August 19, 20169 yr I don't think I was around for the initial challenge, but it does seem like you were pretty inspired by the theme. m. 8: I find the rit to be a little of place. I hear it a little bit better without it. m. 20: A-flats? Overlooked mistake or is there a transitional reason? m. 38: The augmented major 7th chord that comes out from the pedal is really interesting and warrants that minor third resolution. That was cool. Good work and it was entertaining throughout, definitely!
September 7, 20169 yr Author Thanks Monarcheon! The original feels so long ago. Trust me when I say that this is a huge improvement, although I'm still hovering in the realm of humble amateurism.
September 7, 20169 yr I don't know your first version nor the original material. So, I tell you I like the version here. It's pretty nicehow you make the most out of a motivic cell. For me, it's coherent, enjoyable, and it sounds like (neo)romantic. Greetings!
