ilias Gomatos - Niebla pt. 1

Recommended Posts

A great juxtaposition of old and new. At times a bit oversaturated with minor chords, but the modulations and chord progressions are unique and smooth. Nice!

I really like this and for some reason the image you chose for the video makes me wanna listen to this on a rainy day haha. It feels very sad but also feels uplifting in a good and unique way.

I think this is marvelous! Haunted and ethereal. I love your use of syncopation to keep it interesting. The repetition of important themes and rhythms is used just frequently enough to give the piece a sense of form and purpose without becoming tedious. At times sounds like movie music, other times it sounds like it could work with a rock drum beat behind it. Reminds me of an infusion of 1970s rock, Edvard Grieg accompaniment, and jazz chords. Very satisfying. Lastly I enjoy the dissonance you create right before you bring back the main theme for a final time. It Is a strange and new sound, and for a moment makes the listener think "What is that? Where is this going?", but because it immediately goes back to familiar ground it stands out as a pinnacle of sorts, like you've taken us just far enough off the beaten path before taking us home. Excellent decision, well-crafted.

Hi Ilias,

This is a lovely piece and very well written in my humble opinion.  It provokes images and scenarios of lost things that are perhaps eventually found?  I think it's the best that music can do, to take the listener on a journey, and this does that wonderfully.

Best regards

Mark
