Melody for Piano ''Winter''

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Today, I finished this Melody for solo Piano. I am trying to develop my own ''voice'' and ''identity'' in music composition and I think I am on the right way...
As the title is called, the inspiration of this composition is the Winter. Of course in the Dutch style: ice skating, Unox sausage, Boerenkool etc.

Feedback and comment would make my Winter even better!

Kind regards,

Maarten

I wish my piano and 20th century theory skills were better--tried playing my way through this and it helped me understand what you were doing. A nice piece, short and sweet and light--like a salad.

You should consider composing a suite based on the seasons to accompany this one :)

Ik proef echt de vorming van ijskristallen in dit stuk! erg interessant en de moeite waard!

This is nice enough, but so short. It didn't really have much of a chance to go anywhere. I mean, it sounds like a prelude. No real high points or notable moments, just some brief ideas stated once.

This deserves more.

Thank you Gustav! I am glad you like it.

I like your "salad" idea. Very interesting comparison. Haha!

Maybe I should indeed try to compose a suite... Stay tuned.

Dankjewel! Ik ben blij dat de muziek het beeld bij de Hollandse winter ondersteunt.

Thank you for your feedback.

I receive the 'development feedback' from many other composers and then I answer them that I am afraid of "overdeveloping" the music.

When I write a suite, this piece will certainly be the prelude.

Hi Maarten,

If you're getting multiple composers telling you they want to hear more development in your music, take it as a compliment. We want you to explore your ideas because we're interested in seeing where they go.

This is underdeveloped. That's the opposite of overdeveloped.
