My first complete theme.

Featured Replies

Hello guys, I think I’ve finally written a complete theme. However I’ve been struggeling the last few days. This is because I am totally lost where I want to go from here. Any ideas would be highly appreciated.

You demonstrate an ability to create a very affecting musical theme through the use of varied repetition in this piece.  I'm sure you probably felt like the piece almost wrote itself after you had the initial idea for the melody.  It's a very bittersweet melody full of longing, regret and yet hope.  It's beautifully elaborated upon with figurations which characterize romanticism.  I hope you continue it and bring back this main theme after some kind of segue into a contrasting section.  Great job and thanks for sharing!

I would definitely continue to work on this composition ... I agree I think you could compose a nice contrasting section ... the music seems to lead in that direction.

I prefer it short as it is. Beautiful, although standard harmonies.

Incredibly beautiful piece

Also I agree with Luis, I think it works as short as it is, as a prelude/miniature.

A very good and competent composition. It seems from your music that you know Chopin very well. If you haven't listened yet, I can recommend (to broaden your musical experience) to listen to Scriabin's op.11 and also his etudes.
