Hello! I managed to make it through almost 20 years of composing and achieve some small successes as a choral composer without ever writing a solo piano piece. Ironically, I think I'm more comfortable writing for just about any ensemble than solo piano. I finally started to overcome that aversion last fall (and I posted the piece that would become the 3rd movement here)... and now all 3 movements are done. I'm not sure how I did, since it's something new for me. All 3 movements try to capture the movement of water in some way. In the 1st and 3rd movements, I focused a lot on texture and colour, trying to explore the piano's many sounds and registers while still staying grounded in traditional (if somewhat obscured) harmony. The 2nd movement is more melodic. The movements are posted separately below, since it's easier to listen to (and comment on) a 3-or-4-minute movement than it is an 11-minute suite. I posted an earlier version of the 3rd movement (Undertow) here last fall, so I'm especially curious to hear people's thoughts on the other 2. Thanks for listening! 1. Sunshower 2. Nice! I like this ending much better personally. Yes I think there is an extended section also where Alto Flute and Bass Clarinet double each other in octaves which made it sound like horn to me. Thanks for clearing that up!

Hello! I wanted to share with you a waltz suite I finished. I made it for a lady who really enjoys having fun, dancing, talkinig, being herself, and overall enjoys life. I will play it for her when the time comes. But for now, I will share it here. Let me know what you think! I hope you enjoy it and it makes you feel like if you were in a 19th century ball. All gratefully received. Seems there's consensus that the ending is too abrupt. I thought it was ok but I stand corrected and will look at what I can do. The original was more brief, just a couple of pizzicati in C# minor. Coxi, I couldn't detect an acceleration where you point out. I marked the score "slow down" without showing the tempo marks from the daw. Although they may be difficult to see, there's a picture at the bottom showing this and true to form the music seems to slow. However it's perceptions that count so thanks for pointing that out. PeterthePaperComposer, mea culpa! There was a horn in the earliest sketch but I abandoned it. That was a mistake up there. The rendering definitely doesn't include one. Listening now, it's possible the Bass Clarinet note in Bar 5 'C' or the Alto Flute Bar 39, note 'B natl' sounds 'horn-like'. It's possible with certain notes on certain instruments. Not a question of being caught off-guard, it's just how it is. There are similarities between oboe and trumpet: in certain parts of their mid-range they share a similar 'formant' of harmonics. Hi, I just wanted to share this little try that I did to lofi, it's bassically just piano with a bass and drums and a harp in some parts, with lofi effects and a sampled spech by jordan peterson called "Advice for hyper intelectual people". I called this, soft intellectual lofi. It's a random name Ik. I just have a mp3 but I writted all of the piano parts, so it is original, the only sampled was the speech and some vinyl effects.
