  1. I love you! 我愛你! Te Amo! These are the phrases for "I love you" in different languages. But what will be your musical language of expressing your love to your darlings and loved ones? Young Composers will start hosting more events. Therefore, we are going to kickoff 2024 with our first event, for Valentine's Day! The rules for our events will be quite relaxed, and non competitive in nature. Well, to a degree they will be competitive. You will get a chance to be included in a YouTube video (if you opt in). I usually put a theme to my videos, and the theme will be this: What characteristics make for a romantic composition? What do you want to tell to your love ones? A romantic love letter? An apostle of love? There will be no time limit for this event, as love knows no bounds! Want to have your pieces featured with your love message delivered? Join us and post your pieces under this thread on or before Feb. 1, 2024! Only 1 entry will be accepted for each member, and you can also post your pieces separately in the forum! Be sure you have joined my YouTube channel in order to participate! Here are some other specialized videos from this community that you may enjoy watching. What makes a good music composition? An analysis of Henry's Sonata (30 hours watched) What REALLY makes good melody? 5 composers from YC help demonstrate this! (38 hours watched) Create a story with music: 21 Composers show us how! This was our big competition, and thus, a big video. (26 hours watched) These videos give you an idea of my style, and how we are starting to integrate this community with the video format. But this format can only work if you all participate. Our 2024 Valentine's Day event video What makes music romantic?

  2. Hi guys. Long time no see. I started composing this fugue in May of last year and I thought I could finish the project quickly, but it was dragging on a little so I decided to stop. Until December, when I recalled this and felt ready to pick up where I left off. I was looking forward to finishing this so much that i haven't been very cautious with mistakes, so I would love for you to let me know if you see any. Although I love counterpoint, this is my first fugue so I still need to develop skills. Thank you.

  3. A great Fuga. I was surprised by the chromaticism in the subject which is then very well resolved every time.

  4. Thx for your update. I notice a parallel octave btw S and T in b.37. Other than it’s good. The subject reminds me of the subject in Bach’s ricercar a6 of his music,a offering, maybe because of the rhythm and pace. Henry

  5. Hi @Claudio Camacho, I think this is great first attempt on counterpoint! I love the more stile antico style here. I don’t think there are mistakes here concerning the parallels but I don’t look through the score detailedly since it’s a YouTube score. Thx for sharing! Henry

  6. Makes for a lovely short minuetto&trio The 2nd volta for the G minor part probably benefits from a second repeat bar where there is just one dotted minum g minor chord instead of 3 crotchets

  7. You are too kind! That!s what I am striving for after joining YC. I care less on my own style before joining, it’s only after joining YC I care more in my original sound after communicating with members, especially under the guidance of @Thatguy v2.0 and @PeterthePapercomPoser. Hopefully from the change of the 1st to the 3rd Piano Sonata there will be more me there! And as a teaser I am going to post a six part fugue, a part of the 2nd movement of my String Sextet and I really hope there are more me there., even though it’s mainly sadness. And don’t feel inadequate commenting my pieces, I always make mistake and really enjoy different thoughts! Plus I always need motivation and confidence since I always lose it! Thank you! That’s exactly what I thought when I just joined YC! Thx for your joining! Henry

  8. Hello @DragonJade and welcome to the forum. This piece has a jazzy and sometimes romantic style at the same time, which makes the piece sound contemporary. I think the introduction does not “introduce” the waltz, since it doesn’t resolve to the harmony at the beginning of the waltz The theme beginning at bar 185 somehow reminds me of rachmaninoff’s second sonata second theme from the first movement (I think it is the siciliano pattern) thanks for sharing
